Work Program for Regulating Matriculation of Master Degree Candidates of the School of Arts and Communication in 2024

In accordance with the Regulations on the Administration of National Master Degree Candidates Admission in 2024 (JX [2023] No. 2) and the spirit of relevant documents of the University, this School, in combination with the actual situation of admissions, hereby formulates the following work program for regulating matriculation of master degree candidates in 2024:

I. Basic Requirements for Regulating

1. Basic conditions: the applicants must be qualified for the basic regulating requirements in 2024 as stipulated by the Ministry of Education. The result of preliminary examination should meet the national basic requirements of the first-choice major and the score requirements of the major regulated to in our School.

Candidates applying for regulating to this school in 2024 must meet the following requirements:

   2. The undergraduate field of study should be Journalism and Communication.

Design

(Part-time)

1. The first-choice major should be Design (135700);

2. The undergraduate field of study should be environmental design, visual communication design, and digital media art.


2. Candidates applying for regulating must have a bachelor’s degree or above, and the candidates with equivalent education level will not be accepted.

3. The regulating from the “High-level Backbone Talent Program for Ethnic Minorities” and “Special Program for Former Student Soldiers” will not be accepted.

4. Our part-time program only accepts candidates whose application category is targeted employment (including the application for regulating to targeted employment) to apply for regulating.

III. Regulating Procedures

1. At 0:00 a.m. on April 6, 2024, the regulating system of China Graduate Admission Information Network will be opened. Our School will release the regulating vacancy information for 12 hours (The time from 22:00 to 8:00 the next day is not counted by the system). Please fill in the official regulating choice again in the regulating system, and the regulating choice will be locked for 36 hours.

2. Candidates must confirm our notice for second-round examination within 4 hours (The time from 22:00 to 8:00 the next day is not counted by the system). Candidates are requested to stay tuned and receive notification of second-round examination in a timely manner.

3. Candidates who receive the notification of second-round examination should attend the second-round examination in accordance with the requirements of the School.

4. After passing the second-round examination, the candidates must confirm the notice of pending admission from our School within 4 hours (The time from 22:00 to 8:00 the next day is not counted by the system). After acceptance, the School will no longer unlock. Candidates are requested to stay tuned and receive the notice of pending admission.

5. The final regulating admission results are subject to China Graduate Admission Information Network, and please pay attention to the relevant notice on our website.

IV. Arrangement of Second-Round Examination for Regulating

(I) Form of second-round examination for regulating

This School will adopt offline second-round examination for 2024 master degree candidates regulating.

(II) Qualification examination

1. Before second-round examination, the School will strictly examine the candidates’ qualifications. Candidates must submitted related materials as required. The unqualified applicants could not pass the qualification examination. Those who fail to pass the qualification examination are not allowed to take the second-round examination. All qualification materials must be original and the copies should also be submitted.

Valid resident identity card;

Graduation certificate (for previous graduates);

Evidence of education or student status: Previous graduates should submit the “Electronic Registration Form for Academic Certificates of the Ministry of Education” or the “China Higher Education Degree Certification Report”; candidates who have obtained overseas academic degrees should submit the original and one photocopy of their academic degree certificate, as well as the “Overseas Academic Degree Certification Report” issued by the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange; fresh graduates should submit the “Report on Online Verification of Student Status by the Ministry of Education”.

(II) Content of second-round examination

The second-round examination mainly tests the candidates’ ideological and political quality, professional quality, innovation ability, foreign language level, cultivation potential and mental health.

1. Written examination for specialized courses. The comprehensive exam for journalism and communication takes 2 hours, and the design hand-drawing sketches exam takes 5 hours, with the full score of 100 points.

2. Comprehensive interview. It mainly focuses on the candidate’s ideological and political quality and moral assessment, comprehensive professional ability, innovation potential and ability, foreign language proficiency level, comprehensive quality assessment, and mental health condition. The comprehensive interview generally includes candidate’s self-statement, random selection of questions, interview panel questioning and communication, and expert scoring, and the duration is generally not less than 20 minutes. The full score is 100 points.

Note: The judges will judge the candidates mainly by reviewing the materials provided by them and their on-site performance. Comprehensive quality includes ideological and political quality and personal integrity, problem solving ability, reaction ability and future development potential; academic understanding includes academic performance and professional competition awards during college as well as the understanding of the direction selected in postgraduate entrance examination; English proficiency includes CET-4, CET-6 and English listening and speaking ability; innovation ability includes awards for participating in extracurricular scientific and technological activities and awards for participating in various innovative competitions during college; expression ability includes language organization ability and logical expression ability when answering questions from experts on site.

(V) Results of second-round examination

The second-round examination is scored in 100 points system, accurate to two decimal places.

Score of second-round examination = written examination scores of specialized courses ×50% + comprehensive interview score×50%.

(VI) Payment for second-round examination

According to the price document, the second-round examination fee is RMB 100Yuan/person. Payment platform website: http://pay.cug.edu.cn/xysf/ (Candidates log in to the payment system to pay fees on April 9, 2024. The account number is the ID card number, the password is CUG @ the last six digits of the ID card, and the last X is capitalized. Students of CUG must also use their ID number to log in). Candidates who are unable to attend the second-round examination for any reason after paying the fee will not have their paid fee refunded.

(VII) Physical examination

There is no physical examination during the second-round examination, and the candidates will take part in the entrance examination after admission. Candidates who fail the medical examination will be dealt with according to the relevant regulations of the Ministry of Education.

(VIII) For the unmentioned requirements, please refer to the provisions on second-round examination for first choice.

V. Admission Rules

1. Total score calculation.

Total score = total score of preliminary examination ÷ sum of full marks of preliminary examination×100×50%+ score of second-round examination (100 points system)×50%. The total score is calculated in 100 points system, accurate to two decimal places.

2. Admission rules

The proposed admission list will be determined according to the total score from high to low. If the total scores are the same, it will be ranked by the total scores of preliminary examination; if the total scores of preliminary examination are the same, it will be ranked by the score of single subject in the unified examination.

The candidates to be admitted must complete the procedure for proposed admission before April 30 (complete the political examination, transfer personnel files or submit the targeted training contract). If the candidate fails to go through the procedures within the time limit, he/she shall bear the consequence of not being admitted. All the proposed admission lists must be submitted to the Ministry of Education for approval before they are officially accepted.

The proposed admission list will be publicized for 10 working days. After the public announcement without objection, the School will submit the proposed admission list to the Graduate School in accordance with the admission plan issued.

3. In case of one of the following circumstances, the candidate will not be admitted or will be disqualified:

Unqualified in ideological and political quality and moral quality examination.

Failing to attend the second-round examination or unqualified in the second-round examination (the score of second-round examination is the sum of examinations; if the score is lower than 60, it is unqualified).

Not publicized in the proposed admission list.

Failing to submit the targeted employment agreement on time as a targeted employment candidate.

Failing to submit graduation certificate and other required materials on time.

Providing false information.

4. Admission category

Non-targeted: The personnel files of non-targeted postgraduates must be transferred to the University within the specified time. Upon graduation, they will be employed by two-way choice between themselves and employers.

Targeted: The targeted postgraduates must sign targeted training contract with the admission unit and employing unit before being admitted. Upon graduation, they will be employed according to the targeted contract. In principle, in-service targeted employees can be admitted as part-time postgraduates.

5. Training mode

Full-time: Within the basic length of schooling or the length of schooling stipulated by the University, they must study full-time in school.

Part-time: Within the basic years of study or the years of study stipulated by the university (generally, the basic years of study should be extended appropriately), various ways and flexible time arrangements shall be adopted for non-full-time study. Within the specified time, graduates who meet the graduation requirements and degree awarding standards will be issued with master’s graduation certificate and degree certificate. The graduation certificate indicates that the training mode is part-time.

6. Tuition and grants

For tuition, please refer to relevant standards of the Regulations of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) for Admissions of Master Degree Candidates in 2024.The scholarships and grants shall be implemented in accordance with relevant regulations of the University.
