School of Arts and Communication, founded in May 2006, has the Department of Landscape Science, Department of Visual and Media Design, Department of Journalism and Communication, and Department of Music, with five undergraduate majors including Environmental Design, Visual Communication Design, Digital Media Arts, Radio and Television Journalism and Musicology. The School has two first-level master’s degree programs in journalism and communication and design science, a second-level doctoral and master’s degree program in environmental planning and design, and a professional degree program for Master of Fine Arts (MFA), and is also responsible for the construction of Radio and Television Studies (national first-class major) and Design Science (a key discipline in Hubei Province). At present, there are 77 faculty members in service, including 69 full-time teachers, 3 professors, 36 associate professors, and 1 “CUG Scholars” discipline backbone talent. 32 faculty members have doctoral degrees.
The program of the ninth school open day for 2023 postgraduate admission of the School of Arts and Communication is hereby notified as follows:
I. Objects and Qualification
Applicants should be outstanding undergraduate graduates in 2024, who are expected to be eligible for exemption from examination upon recommendation.
II. Time and Schedule
1. Registration: From June 9 to June 25, students can log in to the online registration system of CUG postgraduate admission information network (the school open day registration system for postgraduate admission) for registration (the application is considered unsuccessful if the “Application School” is not filled in.). Students should put the following documents into one PDF file and send it to the email yjs21@cug.edu.cn before June 25, and the package file should be named as “name - name of undergraduate school - name of applied major”.
①One copy of the application form of 2023 School Open Day for Postgraduate Admissions of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) (derived from the registration system for double-sided printing on A4 paper);
②Scanned copy of original ID card and student card;
③Undergraduate transcripts and major ranking information (copies must be stamped with the official seal of the academic affairs office or the school or department);
④Scanned copy of CET-4 and CET-6 report card (or other English level certificates);
⑤Other supporting materials (such as published papers, various award certificates, collection of works, etc.).
2. Material examination and system confirmation. The School will organize a special review team to examine the applicants’ materials, decide on the list of selected students, and determine the admission information in the registration system before June 28. Students who have passed the application are requested to confirm their participation in the system by 12:00 am on June 30. Selected students who do not confirm in the system on time are considered to have given up.
3. A combination of online and offline manners will be adopted. Students from CUG shall participate in this activity offline, while students from other universities can participate in this activity offline or register for online participation. The event is expected to be held at the end of August 2023 (specific time and location will be notified by email).
III. Specific Schedule
The school open day for postgraduate admission of this School mainly includes presentation of admission policies, interpretation of disciplines, and interaction between supervisors and students. The specific activities shall be subject to the on-site arrangement, please pay attention to the relevant notices.
IV. Policy Guarantee
1. Candidates from both CUG and other universities, who participate in the above-mentioned activities, have excellent performance and obtain the qualification of qualified or above grade, and get the qualification of recommended exam-free from their units, can be directly proposed to be admitted as master students (academic or professional) of Grade 2024 of CUG and enjoy the first-class academic scholarship for master students in the first academic year after passing the examination and assessment of CUG for recommended exam-free candidates. Candidates with high comprehensive quality and potential for innovative cultivation can be directly admitted as doctoral students and enjoy the doctoral scholarships and academic grants of the university.
2. For recommended exam-free candidates who participate in the school open day on site and are proposed to be admitted by the University, this University will bear their travel and accommodation expenses for participating in the school open day activities (Students need to first pay for the bill by themselves and keep the pos receipts and invoices, then be reimbursed by the School upon application when they are admitted as recommended exam-free candidates).
V. Points for Attention
1. If false registration materials or certificates are found, all qualifications obtained therefrom will be cancelled, and the School reserves the right to investigate.
2. Students participating in the school open day activities must abide by the relevant regulations of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) and participate in the activities according to the unified arrangement.
