At the invitation of Deputy Dean Yang Zhe, the speaker of the lecture was Han Zhanning, Deputy Secretary General of the Book Design Art Committee of the Publishers Association of China, curator of the 4th China Design Exhibition and Public Art Thematic Exhibition, and the Founder and Creative Group Director of Shenzhen Yazhoutong Design Consulting Co., Ltd. Taking the three main dimensions of cultural values in the scenario theory, namely “authenticity”, “legitimacy” and “theatricality” as an entry point, Mr. Han used posters as a medium, and the design cases of urban cultural projects that the author had personally participated in, especially how poster design served as a medium, a definition and a systematic lead, to present the thinking and exploration of design-driven socio-cultural brands, thereby participating in the shaping of social and cultural values.
First of all, Mr. Han introduced the members of Shenzhen Graphic Design Association and called for poster works from all students. Then he introduced the GDC Award, saying that it was a platform in China for young and talented Chinese designers to have a chance to show their talents, and that the organizers of the GDC are all first-class masters in the field of design.
When talking about the practice of graphic design, Mr. Han emphasized the designer’s sense of social responsibility with “borrowing effectiveness, aesthetic effectiveness, and serving the output of content”. At the same time, he analyzed the poster design in the context of social and cultural values based on his own graphic design, which was divided into three segments and summed up by himself as “the true, the good and the beautiful”.
Finally, in the interactive exchange session of the lecture, Mr. Han answered the students’ questions patiently and meticulously, and the teachers and students had a warm exchange on the topics they were interested in.
