Design Science Liu Zhong

 

 

Liu Zhong graduated from Hubei Academy of Fine Arts with a master's degree in 2006, graduated from University of Chester, UK with a master's degree in 2018, and is currently a lecturer in the School of Arts and Communication, China University of Geosciences (Wuhan).

Honors and awards:

In 2008, the Chinese painting "Blooming Flowers" was exhibited at the "Great Feat in Mind - Hubei Figure Painting Exhibition" (held by the Propaganda Department of the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee, the Hubei Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles and Hubei Academy of Fine Arts to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the Reform and Opening-up), and won the Academic Award (the highest award in this exhibition);

In 2009, the Chinese painting work “We” was exhibited at the 11th Hubei Provincial Art Exhibition and Hubei Chinese Painting Exhibition for the 60th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China, and was well received;

In 2010, the Chinese painting "Wu Jing" was exhibited at the Fourth Art and Design Exhibition for Colleges and Universities in Hubei Province (held by Hubei Provincial Department of Education and Hubei Provincial Department of Culture) and won the bronze award in teachers group;

In 2010, the Chinese painting "April Day" was shortlisted in the First National Modern Meticulous Painting Exhibition;

In 2011, the Chinese painting "Cool Place" was exhibited at “Post College” Arts - Art Works Exhibition of Teachers from Colleges and Universities in Hubei Province;

In 2012, the Chinese painting "Lotus Pond Breeze" was exhibited at the Fifth Art and Design Exhibition for Colleges and Universities in Hubei Province (held by Hubei Provincial Department of Education and Hubei Provincial Department of Culture) and won the bronze award in teachers group;

In 2012, the work “Shan Zai Zai” was exhibited at the Teachers' Design and Painting Works Exhibition for the 60th Anniversary of the Founding of China University of Geosciences - Creative Gene and Cultural Landscape;

In 2012, she was awarded the "7th Excellent Teaching Award for Young Teachers" of China University of Geosciences;

In 2013, the work “The Rise of Shang Tang – Tang Shi” was selected in the Chinese Civilization History Project held by the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Finance and China Federation of Literary and Art Circles;

In 2015, her paintings were exhibited at the Spoleto Festival in Italy.

“Ink Painting in Vision” was published in the Journal of Hubei Academy of Fine Arts, the Journal of Party committee of Hubei Academy of Fine Arts, 2005.12;

The academic paper “Oriental Charm 'Form of God' and 'Image', Chinese Traditional Elements of the Painting in the Use of Animation” was published in the national art journal “Art and Design” (Theory Edition);

The Chinese painting "Wu Jing" was selected into the Works Collection of the Fourth Art and Design Exhibition for Colleges and Universities in Hubei Province (Hubei Changjiang Publishing House);

In 2011, the painting "April Day" was selected into the “Art Map” at the Second Hubei Art Festival (Hubei Fine Arts Publishing House)

In 2013, the academic paper "The Charm of Chinese Painting Lines" was published in the September issue of national art core journal "Art Guide";

In 2013, the painting works “Cool Place” and  "April Day" were published in the Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (Social Science Edition), CSSCI, September Issue;

In 2013, the painting works "Wu Jing" and “Qin” were published in Wuhan University Journal of Humanity & Social Science, CSSCI, December Issue;

In 2014, the painting works “Blooming Flowers” and “Daughter of the Sea” were published in the Journal of Wuhan University of Technology (Social Science Edition), CSSCI, September Issue.

 

Conferences:

In 2014, she was invited by SSCI Journal “International Journal of Art & Design Education”, University of Chester and Tate Gallery to participate in the Fifth International Conference on Art and Design Education and delivered a wonderful speech at the conference. The abstract of the article “Miracle of Chinese Traditional Art – Analysis of history and present situation of brushwork figure painting” has been published in the proceedings of the journal. “News of CUG” has published this news;

In 2016, she was invited by SSCI Journal “International Journal of Art & Design Education”, University of Chester and Tate Gallery to participate in the Seventh International Conference on Art and Design Education in University of Chester and delivered a wonderful speech at the conference, entitled: Research of Chinese Painting Artist’s Drawing Techniques. The abstract has been published in the proceedings of the journal.

Academic projects:

In 2010, lecturer and program member of university-level top-quality course “Introduction to Animation”;

In 2010, the “Oriental Charm 'Form of God' and 'Image', Chinese Traditional Elements of the Painting in the Use of Animation” was successfully approved to be the university-level teaching research project of China University of Geosciences;

In the winter of 2010, on behalf of our School, she visited Alfred State College-SUNY Confucius Institute for art exchange and touring exhibition, and actively drew Chinese painting "Ji Xiang", which was well received and presented to American art friend on behalf of CUG;

In 2011, member, lecturer and book writer of “Preliminary Animation”, Hubei provincial top-quality course project;

In 2011, she was responsible for the production of “Lanzhuer’s Way Home”, which was the Three Gorges cartoon of Three Gorges Research Center for Geohazards, Ministry of Education and “985” Program of China University of Geosciences, project member, person in charge of the fourth episode, director;

In 2014, student Yu Xiaoqing, directed by Liu Zhong, was awarded "Official Wechat Platform Construction of School of Arts and Communication" program supported by 2014 Special Expertise Support Program for College Students;

In 2017, horizontal program of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan): RENEED calcium animation advertising film of Beijing Kangyuan Pharmaceutical.

 

Honors and awards of students:

In 2011, “Honeyed and Killed”, the graduation design work of Niu Yang and Qin Li in animation major, was shortlisted in the 8th Golden Dragon Award Original Animation Art Competition of the 4th China International Cartoon Festival and won the shortlisted prize;

In 2012, “Shan Hun” won the first prize in the First “X-doria” Creative Design Competition (Kang Ruike, the student under her guidance, won the first prize of the university-level mobile phone shell design);

In 2013, Kang Ruike, the student under her guidance, won the shortlisted prize in National University & Middle School Student 2^nd Marine Culture Design Contest held by the Publicity and Education Center of State Oceanic Administration and Ocean University of China;

In 2013, Yu Xiaoqing, the student under her guidance, won the Best Popularity Award in the "Zhou Ha Ya Cup" the Third "SHOW ME" College Students' Creative Work Competition held by Hubei Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League and the Hubei Student Federation;

In 2014, the student under her direction was awarded "Official Wechat Platform Construction of School of Arts and Communication" program supported by 2014 Special Expertise Support Program for College Students;

In 2014, she served as the emblem and banner design judge and advisor of the College of Engineering, China University of Geosciences;

In 2015, the student won the excellent award in Hubei at the Seventh National Advertising Art Design Competition for College Students;

In 2017, she served as the judge of the independent entrepreneurship project of China University of Geosciences;

In 2018, she served as the expert judge of Logo design selection for the Earth Science Popularization Research and Creation Center of China University of Geosciences.
