Design Science Cao Yu

Cao Yu, female, lecturer, born in September 1980 in Huangshi, Hubei Province, is now studying for a doctor’s degree in the School of Architecture and Urban Planning, Huazhong University of Science and Technology.

Field of research: Protection and renewal of industrial heritage, cultural landscape, historical and cultural heritage

Work experience:

Since July 2003, she has been a lecturer in the Department of Environmental Design, School of Arts and Communication, China University of Geosciences (Wuhan).

Research projects and practice:

1. In 2011, she participated in the general program of National Natural Science Foundation of China “Research on the theory and application of 4D city”(51278211) which was in the charge of doctoral supervisor He Yi. Ranked ninth.

2. In 2012, she participated in the research program supported by the Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities “Research on the rural landscape optimization method in Hubei Province based on biological function collaborative system” (2012QN161) as a core member (ranked second)

3. In 2012, she was the core member for“Planning and design of national Sweet Persimmon Park in Zanzishi Village, SANLIFAN, Luotian County” (ranked first)

4. In 2013, she presided over the research program supported by the Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities “Using environmental design method to explore the protection and renewal strategy of industrial heritage based on 4D city theory” (2013189072)

5. In 2014, she participated in the project supported by the Independent Innovation Research Fund of Huazhong University of Science and Technology ”Study on the non-linear characteristics of Tujia folk graphic language in Western Hubei” (2014QN171) as a core member (ranked second)

6. In 2016, she cooperated with World Landscape Architect Peter Raz and participated in the international bidding project of the “Planning and design of Donggang industrial heritage protection and renewal in Huangshi” as a core member, and they won the bid (ranked third)
