Xie Zhi, associate professor of the School of Arts and Communication, China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), PhD of literature, master supervisor of Communication.
He has been teaching in the university since July, 1990 and had been a visiting scholar and visiting professor respectively in Michigan State University and the Department of Linguistics of University of Texas from 2006 to 2007. He offers two courses for graduate students, such as Intercultural Communication, 6 courses for undergraduates, such as Modern and Contemporary Chinese Literature and Chinese and American Culture, and 3 Chinese language courses.
In recent years, he has devoted himself to teaching and scientific research in intercultural communication, literature and film communication, Overseas Sinology and other fields. He has published more than 20 papers independently or as the first author, mainly including: “Cultural differences, audience acceptance and communication effect in intercultural communication: Taking the BBC and CCTV “Wild China” as an example”, (Modern Communication 2013.10, CSSCI); “Confucian view of benevolence and the dissemination of charity culture in China”, (Study and Practice, 2013.12, CSSCI), etc.
He has published 5 academic works, presided over and completed 10 projects, including the key scientific research projects of Ministry of Education, State Bureau of Foreign Experts Affairs and Hubei Provincial Department of Education, the projects supported by Wuhan Social Science Foundation, and the researches sponsored by enterprises and institutions.
His independent paper “On the Overseas Dissemination of Chinese Culture from Mo Yan's Nobel Prize for Literature” won the third prize of the 9th Hubei Social Sciences Outstanding Achievement Award.
