Zhou Jianwei, male, born in 1975, native of Nanyang, Henan Province, PhD in engineering, is a professor, doctoral supervisor, and director of the Department of Environmental Geology at the School of Environmental Studies, China University of Geosciences (Wuhan).
He received a B.E. in Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology, a M.E. in Environmental Engineering and Ph.D. in Hydrology and Water Resources from China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), and stayed as a teacher in 2006. As a visiting scholar, he worked in University of British Columbia from Aug. 2010 to Aug. 2011.
He is a member of the International Association for Engineering Geology and Environment (IAEG), a member the American Geophysical Union (AGU), a member of the International Network for Acidic Prevention (INAP), a member of the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, a member of the expert pool of the Ministry of Land and Resources for evaluating mine geological environmental protection and land reclamation plans, and a member of the expert pool of the Ministry of Land and Resources for evaluating geoparks and mine parks.
In recent years, he is mainly engaged in teaching and scientific research in mine environmental protection and reclamation, geological environment investigation and evaluation. He has presided over and completed over 30 scientific research projects in his research fields, including programs supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Doctoral Program Fund of the Ministry of Education, the Science and Technology Support Plan of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Geological Survey Project of China Geological Survey, and the Natural Science Foundation of Hubei Province, as well as projects entrusted by enterprises and institutions. He has edited and published two monographs, namely “Geological Environment Evaluation” and “Comprehensive Ecological Environment Control Model and Key Technologies for Coal Mining Subsidence Area in Huang-Huai-Hai Plain”, and published “Environmental Geology” as the main author, the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” national planning textbook, and published “Field Practice Teaching Course of Zigui Industry-University-Research Base: Water Resources and Environment Sub-volume” as the practice textbook. He has published more than 50 scientific papers at home and abroad and has been granted 5 national invention patents.
In June 2008, on behalf of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), he participated in the geological safety assessment of the post-earthquake reconstruction plan of Wenchuan organized by the Ministry of Land and Resources, and was awarded “Advanced Individual in Earthquake Relief” and “Excellent Communist Party Member” by the Ministry of Land and Resources and CUG respectively, and his temporary Party branch was rated as “Advanced Grassroots Party Organization in Earthquake Relief of Central State Organs”. In recent years, he has been honored by China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) as “Excellent Class Teacher”, “Excellent Instructor of Social Practice”, “Great Mentor of Postgraduates”, “Moral Model in Teacher Virtue” and so on, and was awarded as “Advanced Individual in Teacher Virtue of Hubei Province” in 2017.
