The School of Arts and Communication held the Sub-forum of the 10th CUG Forum for International Youth Scholars on the afternoon of March 25th in Conference Room 1209 of the Building of the School of Arts and Communication in a combination of online and offline methods. Members of the school leadership team, heads of departments and 17 outstanding young scholars from home and abroad attended the event. The forum was chaired by Jin Xi, secretary of the Party Committee of the School.

Jin Xi expressed his warm welcome and sincere thanks to the outstanding young scholars at home and abroad. He said that the School is most eager for young talents and vitality, and hoped that everyone will take the School of Arts and Communication as the first career choice and work hard to serve the country with a high sense of responsibility and a strong sense of career, striving to be a “good teacher” and “great teacher”, and contributing to the construction of the School’s disciplines and specialties with the beauty of design, the sound of music and the power of communication. The School will thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping thought on culture, reform and innovate, improve quality and effectiveness, lay the foundation for everyone’s growth and success, and assist in the development of everyone’s career.

Dean He Qingjun expressed his greetings and welcome to the young scholars at home and abroad who support and pay attention to the development of the School. He provided a detailed introduction to the situation of the School from the aspects of history, disciplinary characteristics, professional layout, environmental conditions, talent policy, international exchanges and so on. He said that the outstanding young scholars who have the honor to become teachers of China University of Geosciences should focus on “strengthening the characteristics and entering the mainstream” in education and teaching, scientific research, achievement transformation, social services, and other aspects, should rely on disciplinary expertise, form characteristic teams, apply for research projects, and grow rapidly through connections, so as to contribute to the construction of a power in education, technology and culture.

Seventeen young scholars from prestigious universities at home and abroad, including Tsinghua University, Wuhan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, the University of Hong Kong, the University of Washington, Royal College of Music, the University of Cologne and Osaka Metropolitan University, introduced their respective studies, scientific research, work and academic achievements one by one.

The School will take advantage of this forum to strengthen its communication and connection with young scholars, and strive to achieve a “good start” in the introduction of teaching staff.
