In order to comprehensively study and implement the spirit of the 13th Party Congress of CUG and the work theme of “Improving Qualify and Effectiveness of the University, to effectively strengthen the industry-university-research collaborative training, and to expand the construction of disciplines and majors and talent training platforms, on the morning of March 22, the School of Arts and Communication and China University of Geosciences Press held a signing and unveiling ceremony for the joint construction of a cultural and creative design research center and a practical education base for college students. Jiang Guangchang, secretary of the General Party Branch and President of the Press, Zhang Yan, deputy manager of the Press, and the relevant persons in charge of the Integrated Business Department of the Press, Jin Xi, secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Arts and Communication, He Qingjun, dean of the School, and Shan Tianyi, secretary of the Youth League Committee of the School, attended the ceremony. The meeting was chaired by Zhang Yan.

  Zhang Yan delivered a welcome speech and introduced the development of cultural and creative products, as well as the operation and development of related projects of the Press. The attendees had in-depth exchanges on topics such as cooperation foundation, base construction, theme planning and development prospects.

  Jin Xi pointed out that the School attaches great importance to and treasures the cooperation opportunity with the Press, and the signing of the contract to build the “Cultural and Creative Design Research Center” and the “Practical Education Base for College Students” is an important carrier to give full play to the superiority and characteristics of the disciplines and specialties of design and communication. It is a practical measure to expand the internships and practical teaching bases for students, and a positive progress for the two sides to continuously promote the integration of education and industry and collaborative education. He emphasized that he hoped the two sides would study and implement Xi Jinping thought on culture in depth, sing the main theme and carry forward positive energy, and make cultural creations with direction; fully excavate the core essence of the spirit of China University of Geosciences, improve the quality and create a brand, and make unique cultural creations; and focus on the implementation of the fundamental task of cultivating virtues and morality, make cultural creations with warmth in the process of practical education and cultivating students with culture, so as to contribute to the construction of an internationally renowned research university in the field of earth sciences with cultural power.

  Jiang Guangchang reviewed the cooperation process between the Press and the School, and also put forward work requirements for further improving and perfecting the cooperation mode from work mechanism, project form, theme content and support guarantee. He stated that in recent years, under the new situation of highly integrated development in the publishing industry, the Press, relying on the characteristic disciplinary advantages of the University, has been actively exploring and striving to create new business forms such as popular science fusion publishing and jewelry and culture fusion publishing, so as to achieve both social and economic benefits. He pointed out that both sides will take this signing as an opportunity, with the “Cultural and Creative Design Research Center” and “Practical Education Base for College Students” as the basis and project cooperation as the starting point, and give full play to the channel advantages, resource advantages and market advantages of the Press, to promote the continuous upgrading of both sides in areas such as talent cultivation, resource sharing and integrated publishing.

  He Qingjun made a concluding statement. He pointed out that nowadays cultural creation is very “hot” and “trendy”, and the signing of the cooperation agreement between the School and the Press is highly compatible with the strategy of “promoting cultural self-confidence and self-improvement” proposed at the 20th National Congress of the CPC, and the joint construction of a cultural and creative design research center plays an important role in promoting the development of the cultural industry with the characteristics of the University. He emphasized that the design and development of cultural and creative products should be aligned with the needs of the school, society, industry, and alumni in order to be practical, bigger and stronger. Next, the School of Arts and Communication will continue to promote the construction of the base from various aspects such as professional staffing, selection of supervisors and students, project implementation and regular consultations to achieve results. Under the joint efforts of both sides, we will add the beauty of design and the power of communication tell the story of CUG, promote the spirit of CUG and show the culture of CUG.
