Charming Women, Blossoming Flowers: The School of Arts and Communication Celebrates the 2024 International Women’s Day (March 8)

To celebrate the upcoming International Women’s Day (March 8), to enrich the cultural life of the faculty and staff of the School of Arts and Communication, and to showcase the uplifting spirit of women in the new era, on the afternoon of March 7th, 2024, on the occasion of the upcoming International Women’s Day, the School of Arts and Communication held a “Charming Women, Blossoming Flowers” flower salon in the conference room 1209 of the School, which was presided over by Zhou Li, chairman of the Trade Union of the School.

During the event, florist Hu Wangying firstly introduced herself, followed by a unified explanation of the three different flower arrangement schools of European, Chinese, and Korean, and provided a detailed description of the Korean flower arrangement to be learnt today. Ms. Hu introduced the main flowers, matching flowers and foliage in detail, including violets, which symbolize the virtue of simplicity, roses, which represent sincere and beautiful love, and carnations, which are full of respect and charm of mother’s love, etc. She also taught in detail from how the main flower supports the structure, how the matching flowers enrich the hierarchy, and how the leaf materials support the combination of virtual and real background.

Under the guidance of the florist, the faculty members had their hands on the elaborate creations. The passion of roses, the purity of lilies and the strength of daisies blossomed in the hands of the teachers. They communicated with each other, guided each other, and enjoyed the fun of creating beauty with their hands. Under the skillful hands of the teachers, beautiful floral works with their own characteristics were created.

This activity has made everyone spend a memorable holiday, and in the process of creating floral works with their own hands, they felt the unity of nature and beauty. Appreciating the floral works made by their own hands, they felt pleasure in the rich fragrance of flower and gained satisfaction from the works, and the beautiful flowers conveyed all the beauty and blessings.

The flower arrangement activity provided a platform for our faculty and staff to relax and enjoy the festival. After the activity, the teachers expressed that the activity was very joyful and beneficial, and they felt the care from the Trade Union of the School and the warmth of the School. The Trade Union of the School will also, as in the past, give full play to its functions to contribute to the promotion of staff cohesion and the establishment of a harmonious working atmosphere.
