2024 New Year Party of the School of Arts and Communication Successfully Held

Starting the New Year 2024

At the beginning of the new year, the wonderful and enthusiastic performances shine like warm lights in the cold winter, illuminating everyone who welcomes the new year. On December 28, 2023, the School of Arts and Communication held the New Year Evening Party as scheduled, bringing a unique audio-visual feast to teachers and students. Jin Xi, secretary of the Party Committee of the School, Zhang Meizhen, deputy dean of the School, Bian Jianhua, deputy secretary of the Party Committee, professional teachers of each department, and teachers from the School attended the evening party. The evening party demonstrated the vibrant spirit of the college students as well as their aspirations and pursuit of a better life through colorful performances. On this night, joyful voices and laughter intertwined, and the teachers and students of the School of Arts and Communication experienced an unforgettable night together.

The evening party opened grandly in the music hall of the School of Arts and Communication, with all seats filled. The audience arrived early and eagerly awaited the upcoming exciting performance. The party was divided into several chapters, covering a variety of art forms such as music, dance, magic, sketches and instrumental performances.

Drums and gongs are sounding to say goodbye to the old year, and lions are waking up to attract wealth and good fortune. The performance “Dragon and Lion Offering Auspiciousness” brought by the Dragon and Lion Troupe was the first to make an appearance. On stage, the team members were dressed in festive costumes, and an auspicious dragon was hovering in the air, as if about to break through the air, passionately showcasing traditional dragon and lion dance skills. In this performance full of power and passion, we felt the charm of traditional culture, and the audience cheered and praised the wonderful performance.

Immediately after that, the students majoring in Musicology of Grade 2023 brought an audio-visual feast to everyone. They performed a creative song called “Crazy Thursday” in the form of a series of musical pieces and instrumental ensemble. On the stage, the students were full of passion, and the various combinations of musical instruments made the whole piece of music colorful, either passionate or melodious and touching. They onveyed happiness and hope through music, and the atmosphere of the scene continued to heat up, causing the audience to boil.

Next, we enjoyed the Wu Yin Opera “Zhao Meirong Enjoying the Lantern Festival” presented by Zhang Shuran. She showcased the character’s kindness, intelligence, and talent through vivid performances. Under the interpretation of Zhang Shuran, the audience felt the unique charm of Wu Yin Opera and more people understood the profoundness of Chinese traditional culture. Her graceful temperament and beautiful singing voice brought the audience into an art hall full of traditional culture.

Next, we enjoyed the dance “Moonlight sunrise” brought to us by NDS Street Dance Club. Their beautiful postures seemed like beating notes, bringing us into an energetic and dreamy evening. With their unique way of expression, they interpreted the beautiful symbolism that every dawn is a new beginning.

Students from Class 16s232 presented the story of “Dream of the Red Chamber” to the audience in the form of sketches, incorporating elements of CUG. The performers not only brought joy to the audience, but also showed respect for the hardships and persistence of the students at CUG. With their efforts, the once distant “Dream of the Red Chamber” was closely connected to the lives of people at CUG, which was truly breathtaking.

The performance of Dvorak’s “Slavic Dance Fifth Movement” gave the audience a taste of the typical Czech dance rhythm style, which was refreshing in its simple, cheerful and passionate national style. In the performance, the rhythm mostly simulated the spinning dance steps in Scarcina, with warm emotion and strong power, and the emotional tone of the whole song was even more joyful and enthusiastic.

Next, the highly anticipated program “Continuous Songs Mix” made a brilliant debut. Yang Rui and others sang with full enthusiasm, and their repertoire included popular works in the Chinese music industry in recent years. The flickering lights on the stage set off the passionate faces of the singers, making the audience intoxicated. As the last song came to an end, the audience was still unsatisfied and stood up to cheer for them.

At this moment, a student dressed in ethnic minority costumes stepped onto the stage and brought a Mongolian song “Waiting for Your Return”. It was a picturesque song with lyrics full of longing for home and a beautiful melody. The singer sang the Mongolian people’s great ambition and desire for a better life with his high and impassioned voice.

In this joyful atmosphere, the party was getting better and better. Immediately after that a magician walked to the center of the stage and started a unique interactive magic show with playing cards, bringing a fantastic magic journey to the audience.

The performers of the dance “Ditto” interpreted the love of youth with energetic dance moves. They bounced around the stage with joy, as if bringing the audience into a dreamy fairy tale world. In the climax of the dance, the performers showed a high level of tacit understanding, dancing their arms in a neat and uniform manner, like a powerful force that shook the hearts of the audience.

Immediately after, the students majoring in music brought a rousing keyboard duet “Defend the Yellow River”. In the passionate melody, the audience seemed to see the rolling waves of the Yellow River. The students skillfully typed the keyboard, the notes jumping, like the battles of warriors on the battlefield, full of passion, infecting every audience present.

As time went by, the party came to a successful end with the chorus of “As You Wish”. At this evening party, the audience not only enjoyed the splendid performances, but also felt the unique interpretation of art by the School of Arts and Communication. In this year-end feast, everyone fully unleashed their talents and brought a brand new artistic experience to the audience.

The 2024 New Year Party of the School of Arts and Communication has come to a successful conclusion with laughter and joy. The success of the party could not have been achieved without the joint efforts and careful preparations by the teachers and students of the School. Through this wonderful New Year Party, the School of Arts and Communication showcased its vitality and creativity, and also brought a beautiful New Year greeting to all teachers and students.
