In order to further promote the study and implementation of the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the 13th CPC Congress of CUG, consolidate and expand the achievements of theme-focused education, and implement the fundamental task of cultivating virtues and morality, the School held an (Enlarged) Meeting of the Theoretical Study Central Group of the Party Committee and the Work Seminar for 2024 on January 22 in conference room 1209 of the Building of the School of Arts and Communication. All members of the leadership team of the School and the party and government leaders of each department attended the meeting, and Jin Xi, secretary of the Party Committee of the School, presided over the meeting.
Jin Xi and the attending comrades jointly studied the spirit of the “Leading Group Meeting of the Ministry of Education on Party Building and strict self-governance in every aspect of the Party”, the “2024 National Education Work Conference”, the “2024 Education Work Conference of Chinese Missions and Consulates Abroad”, the “Annual Dispatch Meeting of the Ministry of Education for “New Generation Soul Casting Project”, and the Winter Vacation Work Arrangement Meeting of the University, and conveyed and studied the “Notice of the Ministry of Education on Thoroughly Implementing the Campus Aesthetic Education Infiltration Action” and the requirements of the University on doing a good job in related work during the winter vacation.
Participants unanimously believed that it is necessary to further enhance the pertinence and effectiveness of arming the mind, guiding the work and promoting the practice with the Party’s innovative theories, focus on the implementation of the fundamental task of cultivating virtues and morality, adhere to the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, especially Xi Jinping Thought on Culture, and deeply excavate the resources of ideology and politics, cultural values and aesthetic education contained in various disciplines and specialties, pay more attention to “three-wide education” and “five sides of education” in the process of strengthening the organic unity of teaching and practice, make greater efforts to enhance the capacity of party building and ideological work and the brand building of achievements, and make precise and sustained efforts to promote the high-quality development of disciplines and specialties.
At the subsequent annual work seminar of the School, the department heads and party branch secretaries, based on the actual situation of their respective majors, reported and exchanged information on the relevant work plans for 2024 from the aspects of grassroots party organization construction, undergraduate education and teaching, graduate training, discipline and subject construction, scientific research and social services, faculty construction, student ideological and political education, and international exchange and cooperation.
Yang Zhe, Peng Jing, Zhang Meizhen and Yuan Yue, deputy deans of the School, and Bian Jianhua, deputy secretary of the Party Committee, gave special speeches and discussions on the key tasks, promotion ideas, specific measures, and expected effects of relevant work in 2024 based on their respective responsibilities and the three-tier units.
Dean He Qingjun, based on the shortcomings and weaknesses identified in disciplinary evaluation, professional evaluation, and mid-term inspection of the implementation of the “14th Five-Year Plan”, made key deployments and proposed work requirements for further strengthening and improving relevant work. He pointed out that we should adhere to the combination of goal orientation and problem orientation, adhere to the characteristics of our own discipline, strengthen the cross integration and innovation with other disciplines on campus, and take the participation in the application and construction of the Hubei Provincial Key Laboratory of River Basin Environment and Yangtze River Culture as an opportunity to promote the integration of disciplines, majors, platforms, teams, projects and achievements, continuously consolidate the work and data foundation, and well implement the second half of the “14th Five-Year Plan”. We should also systematically plan and promote the construction of aesthetic education brands, and enhance the visibility and influence of the School in campus culture construction.
Jin Xi, on behalf of the School, expressed gratitude to the attending comrades for their suggestions and joint efforts in promoting development of the School, and summarized the conference. He pointed out that unity is strength, and confidence is better than gold. The fundamental purpose of holding this meeting at the beginning of the new year is to focus on the core task of promoting the high-quality development of various work of the School, to concentrate, gather strength, seeking opportunities and promote work through learning. He emphasized that 2024 is the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, and a year for comprehensive implementation of the spirit of the 13th Party Congress of CUG, the completion of the inspection and rectification tasks of the Party Committee of CUG, and the promotion of high-quality development of the School. All the teachers and students of the school should deeply study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important discourse on education, improve their political stance, recognize the situation and understand the overall situation, adhere to the principle of seeking progress while maintaining stability, and strengthen the leadership of party building to promote development.
