There are eighteen turns in this mountain trail, (and) there are nine attached water paths too.
(Reported by Ren Zehua; Photographed by Han Liuran) At the invitation of Associate Professor Yu Min of Music Department of School of Arts and Communication of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), Mr. Tong Wenxi, a famous lyricist, writer, poet, national-level scenarist, expert enjoying Special government allowances of the State Council, and the vice-chairman of the China Musicians and Dancers Association, paid a visit to CUG and gave a report.
At 7:00 p.m. on December 4, 2023, Mr. Tong Wensi came to No. 1104 Lecture Hall of School of Arts and Communication in Nanwangshan Campus, and gave a wonderful report on The Road of Music and Literature Creation of Eighteen Turns in the Mountain Trail, and soulfully told the his music and literature creation process to both the teachers and the students, and shared his own insights and feelings about the creation of music works.
First of all, Mr. Tong Wenxi told us about the creation of the song Eighteen Turns in the Mountain Trail, about his love with the Tujia nationality, and how he found inspiration in the landscape of the Tujia nationality; he also emphasized that the creation of the song must go deep into the life, learn from the life, and be the pupil of the life. Especially the creation of literary works must constantly discover, constantly find the feeling, melt the things that can move the heart, and each song must be able to tell a story.
Afterwards, Mr. Tong Wenxi shared his own experience and feelings about the creation of music literature, focusing on four key points, namely, "heart", "accuracy", "beauty" and "emotion"; Mr. Tong pointed out that music literature should be created with heartfelt feelings and willingness to put in the effort, and that it was important to be accurate in the lyrics, to have a sense of responsibility and conscience, and the works should be able to let the audience have the impulse of beauty, and to produce empathy.
While telling the story, Mr. Tong Wenxi also showed his representative works such as Singing Eighteen Turns in the Mountain Trail Again" and Speaking Well, and Doing Better, and invited teachers and students to sing classic red songs such as "The People are the River and the Mountain", which ignited the atmosphere of the scene.
Finally, Mr. Tong Wenxi, inspired the present students with his own school experience to cherish the current study time, encourage students to work hard to create their own passion into the creation of music and literature; after the meeting, Mr. Tong Wenxi exchanged with the students and the teachers warmly, and take a group photo together, and drew a successful conclusion for the wonderful speech.
