The “immersive” experience can help the public enjoy a more fulfilling and higher quality of cultural and artistic life. In order to better explore the exchange and integration of art healing and the aesthetic education of traditional Chinese handicrafts, the School specially invited Prof. Wei Xiuyu, a master supervisor of the Hubei Institute of Fine Arts and a member of the Chinese Artists Association, to give a wonderful lecture.
In this lecture, Prof. Wei Xiuyu, starting from the mechanism of immersive experience, elaborated on the close relationship between traditional Chinese handicrafts and to life. They only have the creative attribute of art to experience happiness by immersing in them, and can also take on the function of artistic healing.
Afterwards, Prof. Wei Xiuyu introduced the psychological elements of immersive experience and explained in detail the path of art healing in the aesthetic education of traditional handicrafts, pointing out the need to rationally apply traditional cultural resources to advance the theoretical exploration of Chinese art healing as well as the need to activate and utilize traditional cultural resources to construct an aesthetic education curriculum system with Chinese characteristics, which guided the students to have a deeper reflection on the mode of aesthetic education in a simple way.
During the lecture, a student asked: Is there a long-term and systematic healing model related to traditional art, in addition to short-term artistic healing? After explaining the need for long-term healing to be more integrated with the medical field, Prof. Wei Xiuyu encouraged the students to actively explore some artistic research in this field.
Finally, Prof. Wei Xiuyu emphasized that the application scope of traditional cultural experience should not be limited to schools and special groups of inheritors, but should face the general public, take into account social aesthetic education, and promote the construction of social and spiritual civilization with Chinese characteristics. After the lecture, students expressed that they had a profound understanding of how to integrate traditional cultural elements into current life and benefited greatly from it.
