Teachers from Design Studies of this School Participated in the 2023 Cumulus Conference at Central Academy of Fine Arts

From November 22 to 24, 2023, Professor He Qingjun, Dean of the School of Arts and Communication, Professor Peng Jing, deputy dean of the School, and Associate Professor Cheng Huangxin, branch secretary of the Department of Environmental Design, participated in the 2023 Cumulus Annual Conference at the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) in Beijing.

Cumulus, founded in 1990 and headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, aims to promote international exchanges and cooperation among design schools in teaching, research and practice. After more than 30 years of development, it now has nearly 400 member units from more than 70 countries around the world, bringing together the most well-known art and design colleges in the world, and it is the largest and most influential international academic organization in the field of international art and design education. It focuses on the developments and innovations in the fields of art, design, and media, on the dialogue and power of different fields globally, on the diversity in teaching, practice, and research across regions and cultures, and on the social and environmental responsibility of the discipline, and in so doing, advocates for designers and artists to actively build a better world.

With the theme of “Narratives of Love - Toward Healing, Transformation and Transcendence", this annual conference focuses on the three major topics of “Crisis and Opportunity”, “Ideas and Ideals”, and “East and West”, and the keynote speeches, paper sharing, and design workshops will be carried out in the three days from “Narratives of Love”, “Visionary Program and “Design Streams” respectively.

Prof. He Qingjun, dean of the School of Arts and Communication, and Prof. Song Xiewei, dean of the School of Design of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, had in-depth exchanges. Dean Song Xiewei introduced the experience of CAFA from discipline construction and professional training, and provided relevant suggestions.

Afterwards, they visited the 2024 Graduation Design Theme Exhibition of the School of Design of CAFA.
