Successful Holding of the Lecture on “Attitude and Temporal Spirit of Design”

In order to better explore the attitude and temporal spirit of design, the School has invited Prof. Wang Lingyi, dean of the School of Art Education of Hubei Institute of Fine Arts, to give a wonderful speech in this lecture.

At 7:00 p.m. on November 16, 2023, the lecture on “Attitude and Temporal Spirit of Design was successfully held in C106 of the East Teaching Building. In this lecture, Prof. Wang Lingyi shared his understanding and insights on the attitude and temporal spirit of design from his own design practice.



When the lecture formally began, students were full of expectation for Prof. Wang’s speech. Prof. Wang firstly introduced his design experience and design philosophy, emphasized the importance of design attitude and temporal spirit in design practice, and pointed out the qualities and abilities that designers should have.

Then, he presented a series of design works produced under the era, including graphic design, product design, spatial design and many other fields. He explained in detail the creative background of each design work, as well as the design ideas contained in these designs under the influence of the times, using a humorous way to help students gain a deeper understanding of the evolution process and thinking methods of design.

During the lecture, Prof. Wang Lingyi emphasized the role and responsibility of designers in the changing times He pointed out that designers should have a keen sense of the times and profound social insight, so that they can create design works that meet the needs of the times and contribute to social development. Students had interesting exchanges with the teacher throughout the lecture, and also gained a deeper understanding and awareness of the attitude and temporal spirit of design.

At the end of the lecture, Prof. He Qingjun, dean of the School of Arts and Communication, made a concluding speech. He proposed that, regarding the attitude and temporal spirit of design, it is not only necessary for us as a young generation to create more design works that meet the needs of the times, but also to make greater contributions to the development of society and to continue to carry forward the spirit of design, so that we can appreciate the charm and essence of design, cherish and value the attitude and temporal spirit of design, and deepen our learning experience of the lecture.
