Recently, the award ceremony of the 2023 First Wuhan Cultural and Creative Design Competition was held at the Broadcasting Center of Wuhan Changjiang Daily. Two graduate teams led by Associate Professor Zhang Fan were awarded the Bronze Prize and Creative Excellence Prize respectively, and were invited to attend the award ceremony.
The 2023 First Wuhan Cultural and Creative Design Competition was sponsored by the Propaganda Department of the CPC Wuhan Municipal Committee, Wuhan Municipal Bureau of Commerce and Wuhan Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, organized by Wuhan Industrial Design Industry Association, and co-organized by Changjiang Network and other units, with the aim of promoting the empowerment of cultural and creative IP to the real economy, promoting the deep integration of cultural and creative ideas into urban production and life, further enhancing the soft strength of urban culture and creating a new era of cultural prosperity in the hero city.
The competition has attracted widespread attention from cultural and creative design professionals, cultural and creative enterprises and organizations, teachers and students from colleges and universities, and other people from all walks of life. A total of 1,556 sets (3,739 pieces) of creative design works were received from 1,948 registered users from 27 provinces and municipalities (autonomous regions) across the country, covering seven categories including IP design, illustration, cultural and creative products, book binding, time-honored brand planning cases, application apps, and environmental art design. After the preliminary and final evaluation, two graduate student teams led by Associate Professor Zhang Fan of the School achieved excellent results with their unique creative ideas, exquisite design techniques and excellent teamwork spirit. The work “Wuhan Food Story - Series of Creative Refrigerator Stickers” completed by Zhu Xinxiang, Gao Yun, Liu Jiarui and Liu Suwan won the Bronze Prize, and the work “Sijimei Tea Product Packaging and Derivative Gift Design” completed by Jiang Nan, Yang Qianyu, Su Kailin and Zhou Yuan won the Creative Excellence Prize.
For the achievement, the team members said that it was the result of the unremitting efforts of the School of Arts and Communication in cultivating innovative talents and promoting the development of cultural and creative industry, and it would inspire students to learn with greater enthusiasm and continue to pursue innovative and excellent design.
