From October 25th to 27th, the School of Arts and Communication organized a visit event for the 2023 “Month of Respect for the Elderly” to extend holiday greetings and high respect to retired teachers, thanking them for their long-term hard work and selfless dedication in all kinds of work of the School.
On October 25, Jin Xi, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, Zhou Li, Chairman of the Branch Labor Union, Li Weina, Director of the Office, and Ning Wei, Head of the Department of Journalism and Communication, visited Yuan Chao at his home, a retired teacher of the Department of Journalism and Communication. They inquired with Mr. Yuan’s physical condition, introduced the development of the School, and listened to his opinions and suggestions on the work of the School. Jin Xi said that the development of the School could not be separated from the hard work and struggle of the older generation. He thanked the old comrades for laying a solid foundation for the high-quality development of the School, and hoped that they could use their residual heat to continue to care for and support the development of the School.
On October 26, Jin Xi, accompanied by Zhou Li, secretary of the Party branch of the Department of Music, Xu Jia and Zhang Li, visited An Shugong, a retired teacher of the Department of Music, at his home, thanked him for his contribution to the establishment and development of the music program, and sent him good wishes and sincere greetings. Jin Xi urged the young teachers of the Department of Music to take the initiative to care for and pay regular attention to Mr. An’s living needs and physical condition, and try to provide timely and warm services.
On October 27, Jin Xi, Li Weina, Zhou Li and Di Cheng (head of the Department of Visual and Media Design), visited Ouyang Debiao, a retired teacher of the Department of Design, at the Art Museum of Wuhan Design and Engineering College. Jin Xi has repeatedly expressed gratitude to Mr. Ouyang for his love for education and students, and sincerely wished him health and safety. Mr. Ouyang thanked the School for the care all along, and was pleased with the achievements made in the career development of the School, and would spare no effort to support the School, especially in the professional talents cultivation and education and teaching work of design discipline.
Respecting, honoring and loving the elderly is not only an excellent traditional Chinese virtue, but also an important part of the excellent traditional Chinese culture. Retired faculty and staff are valuable educational resources for university and school. Next, the School of Arts and Communication will take practical actions to actively care for and pay attention to the elderly comrades. At the same time, focusing on the inheritance and promotion of the spirit of educators, the study and implementation of Xi Jinping thought on culture and the spirit of the thirteenth CPC Congress of CUG, the School will further play the important role of veteran teachers in educating people with culture, aesthetics, emotions, and teachings, and strive to enhance the sense of achievement and happiness of retired faculty in accelerating the construction of an internationally renowned research university in the field of earth sciences.
