In order to inherit and carry forward the fine style of investigation and research conducted by the older generation of revolutionaries at the grassroots level, and to enhance the ideological, political and action consciousness in investigations and research, the Party branches of the School of Arts and Communication organized Party members and teaching staff to watch the films on major revolutionary and historical themes (“Mao Zedong in Caixi” and “A Man of the People”) at the Giant Screen Cinema of the Optics Valley Plaza on the afternoon of October 12.
“Mao Zedong in Caixi” tells the story of Comrade Mao Zedong, who carried out research on the construction of rural revolutionary base areas in Caixi Township, Shanghang, Fujian Province in November 1933 upholding the famous statement of “no investigation, no right to speak”. By visiting villages, talking with villagers, sharing food and labor with the masses, and holding symposiums, Mao Zedong collected a large amount of information and conducted a comprehensive, systematic, and thorough investigation and scientific summary of the revolutionary struggle practice of the people of Caixi. After the investigation, he wrote the glorious work “Model of Rural Soviet Work - Caixi Township”, also known as “Investigation of Caixi Township”.
“A Man of the People” tells the story of Comrade Deng Xiaoping’s life at the tractor repair factory in Xinjian County, Jiangxi Province from October 1969 to February 1973. Although he was demoted, Deng Xiaoping persisted in laboring while taking care of his son who was paralyzed in bed. Every day, he walked along the path from his residence “General Building” to the factory to work, rain or shine. He walked along this path for three years and four months, which later became known as the “Xiao Ping Path”. Deng Xiaoping always cared about the people and pondered national affairs on the rural roads, ultimately leading the party and people to successfully walk out of the broad road of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
After watching the films, the Party members and teaching staff of the School were deeply touched. Everyone expressed that in the future work, we should draw strength from the steadfast political character of our revolutionary predecessors, their deep love for our country, their noble qualities of sharing joys and sorrows with the people and their practical and realistic work style, and forge ahead. We should seriously study and implement the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping on education and propaganda, ideological and cultural work, strive to fulfill the original mission of educating people for the Party and nation focusing on the implementation of the relevant work arrangements of the 13th Party Congress of CUG, play the vanguard and exemplary role of teacher Party members on their positions, do our job well with a strong sense of mission and responsibility, demonstrate our role in promoting the practical work of “full-staff education, full-process education and comprehensive education”, “connectivity and integration in the five priority areas” and cultivating new talents of the times, and contribute to high-quality development of the School and University and the construction of a strong power in education.
