On Oct. 9, the Party Committee of the School of Arts and Communication held a theoretical study central group study (enlarged) meeting in the 1209 Conference Room of the School, to communicate and study the important instructions given by General Secretary Xi Jinping on the propaganda, ideological and cultural work and the spirit of the National Conference on Propaganda, Ideological and Cultural Work. Members of the school leadership team, members of the party committee, department heads, and party branch secretaries participated in the massed learning. The meeting was chaired by Jin Xi, secretary of the Party Committee.
Jin Xi communicated and studies the spirit of the recent important instructions given by General Secretary Xi Jinping on propaganda, ideological and cultural work and the spirit of the National Conference on Propaganda, Ideological and Cultural Work. The participants exchanged and discussed ideas on further integrating practical implementation of relevant spirit, promoting the construction of disciplines and majors, improving the quality of talent cultivation, and strengthening the theoretical interpretation of Xi Jinping thought on culture.
It is believed that General Secretary Xi Jinping’ important instructions on propaganda, ideological and cultural work have profoundly elaborated on the extreme importance of propaganda, ideological and cultural work, summarized the historic achievements of the propaganda, ideological and cultural cause in the new era, and the overall and fundamental transformation of the situation in the field of ideology, analyzed in-depth the new situation and new tasks faced by the propaganda, ideological and cultural work, and clarified the paramount political task of arming the whole Party and educating the people with the Party’s innovative theories, put forward the new cultural mission of continuing to promote cultural prosperity, building a strong power in culture and building a modern civilization of the Chinese nation at the new historical starting point as well as the “seven efforts” work requirements, which has strong political, ideological and guiding significance, indicates the direction for propaganda, ideological and cultural work, and provides fundamental guidance. As educators engaged in art and communication personnel training and scientific research, we must deeply studyand understand based on our positions, and resolutely implement them in conjunction with our work.
It is believed that the just-concluded National Conference on Propaganda, Ideological and Cultural has milestone significance in the development history of the Party’s propaganda, ideology, and culture cause. The most important outcome of the conference was the first presentation of Xi Jinping thought on culture. This is a theoretical summary of the Party’s practical experience in leading cultural construction in the new era, which enriches and develops Marxist cultural theory and constitutes the cultural chapter of Xi Jinping thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era. Xi Jinping thought on culture has both innovations and breakthroughs in the theoretical viewpoints of culture and deployment requirements in the layout of cultural work, which is clear and coherent, and clearly defines the roadmap and mission statement for cultural construction in the new era, marking that the Party’s understanding of the law of socialist cultural construction with Chinese characteristics has reached a new height, indicating that the Party’s historical and cultural self-confidence has reached a new height, and providing a powerful ideological weapon and scientific guide to action for the propaganda, ideological and cultural work on the new journey in the new era and the assumption of the new cultural mission.
The meeting requires that all levels of party organizations and party leaders and cadres should conscientiously implement the requirements of the “first topic”, timely study and communicate the work, and strive to be ahead as a model. All teachers and students of the School should unify their thoughts and actions to the spirit of the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping and the decision-making and deployment of the CPC Central Committee, effectively enhance the sense of responsibility and mission in the propaganda, ideological and cultural work, and continue to strengthen the study, research and interpretation of Xi Jinping thought on culture. We should use our hearts and emotions to deepen the internalization and transformation, and consciously implement it in all aspects and throughout the entire process of subject and professional construction, talent cultivation, education and teaching, and scientific research. We should focus on the major requirements of the “Seven Focuses”, enhance our cultural communication skills, strive to tell good art & media stories, create more popular and good works, and create a bright brand for the School. We should integrate it into education and teaching, innovate teaching methods, create high-quality courses, promote the ideological and political education in courses, and promote the integration of Xi Jinping Thought on Culture into “teaching materials, classrooms and minds”. We must adhere to problem orientation, strengthen academic guidance, adhere to integrity and innovation, deeply cultivate, and make new achievements in promoting cross innovation and “strengthening characteristics and entering the mainstream”.
