At 9:30 on August 31, 2023, the School of Arts and Communication held a meeting of Party members in leadership positions for the theme-focused education on studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era in Room 112 of the North Comprehensive Building, and all the members of the leadership team of the school attended the meeting, which was presided over by Jin Xi, secretary of the Party Committee of the School.
Before the meeting, members of the leadership team carefully studied and comprehended the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches and discourses on conducting intraparty political activities in earnest and studying for forging the soul, studying for wisdom, studying for Party conduct, and studying for work promotion through massed learning, exchange and discussion, personal self-study. Focusing on the general requirements of “learning ideology, strengthening party spirit, emphasizing practice, and making new achievements”, they had in-depth heart-to-heart talks and seriously wrote the control materials and personal speech outline based on their actual work, so as to make sufficient preparations for the high-quality convening of the meeting.
At the meeting, Jin Xi, secretary of the Party Committee, conducted a comparative check and self-criticism on behalf of the leadership team of the school. Focusing on six prominent issues such as theoretical learning, political quality, ability, responsibility, work conduct, and integrity and self-discipline, he deeply analyzed the root causes of the problems and proposed targeted rectification measures in accordance with the requirements of considering oneself, responsibilities and work. The leadership team of the school selected “Bureaucracy in the ‘Ivory Tower’” as a typical case for analysis, identified their own gaps and shortcomings, reviewed from the ideological root, and proposed measures for rectification. Then other members of the leadership team conducted a comparative check one by one, carried out serious criticism and self-criticism, and reported personal matters as required. At the meeting, based on what they have learned, thought, and done from theme-focused education, the leadership team of the school exchanged ideas, examined problems and clarified the direction of future efforts for promoting high-quality development of the school through high-quality party building. The problems were thoroughly analyzed and the criticism was pertinent, so the meeting achieved good results in further unifying thinking and boosting spirit.
Finally, Comrade Jin Xi proposed three requirements for taking the meeting as a new starting point, consolidating and expanding the achievements of theme-focused education and doing a good job in rectification work. Firstly, we must adhere to promoting reform through learning, arm our minds, guide practice and promote work with Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. We must make new achievements in subject and discipline construction, education and teaching, talent cultivation, scientific research as required by the fundamental task of cultivating virtues and morality and the project of casting the soul of new generations, to further consolidate and expand the achievements of theme-focused education. Second, we should adhere to the principle of promoting construction through reform, combining problem oriented and goal oriented approaches, and focusing on promoting high-quality development of the school; we should strive to overcome difficulties and achieve long-term success in making up for shortcomings as well as the weaknesses and strengths, so as to write a new chapter of “strengthening characteristics and entering the mainstream”. Third, we should adhere to the guidance of high-quality party building to ensure high-quality development, deeply study and implement the spirit of the 13th Party Congress of CUG, carry forward the school motto of “hardworking and plain-living, being realistic and pragmatic” with a sense of responsibility and urgency of “always in a state of unease”, unite and lead the teachers and students of the school to work hard and start businesses, and continue to strive, and contribute our strength to the construction of “Beautiful China, Habitable Earth”.
