The School of Arts and Communication Holds a Meeting for New Students and Their Parents

In order to implement the fundamental task of cultivating virtues and morality, build a bridge for family-school communication, strengthen the close contact between school and parents, and achieve the new situation of family-school cooperation and collaborative education, the School of Arts and Communication of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) held a meeting for the new students of Grade 2023 and their parents on the morning of September 5th. Representatives of teachers from various departments, class teachers and counselors for new students attended this meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, Chen Xiliang, the undergraduate counselor for Grade 2023, extended a warm welcome to the new students and their parents. He introduced the long history of China University of Geosciences (CUG) and its motto of “hardworking and plain-living, being realistic and pragmatic” to the parents. Parents hand over their children to the School of Arts and Communication of CUG, and the university and school will work together with parents to promote the comprehensive ability of the students, help their children grow and become successful, and jointly light up a bright future.

On behalf of each department, Ning Wei, Cai Aixin, Zhou Li, Yang Qing, Li Daibin, Xu Li and other professional teachers introduced radio and television studies, musicology and design related majors in detail. They made an in-depth and comprehensive explanation from the history of professional schooling, training objectives, teaching staff, curriculum system, characteristic training, professional competitions, industry development, and students’ graduation destinations, etc., allowing parents to fully understand each major while further showcasing the overall appearance of the high-quality talent cultivation of the School.

To educate people with beauty and culture, the School of Arts and Communication has always adhered to the school motto of “hardworking and plain-living, being realistic and pragmatic” and carried forward the school spirit of “strict in CUG, the pursuit of excellence”. Through this meeting with parents of new students, teachers of the school and parents communicated with each other in a zero-distance, face-to-face manner. Parents of new students had a preliminary understanding of the schools training philosophy, goals, characteristics and the students’ learning career in the next four years, which further narrowed the distance between the school and parents, and built a bridge between the school and parents, and would help the new students to develop in a holistic and personalized way with a prospective and innovative mindset. The school will take this meeting as an opportunity to continue its unremitting efforts to provide education that satisfies the people and brings happiness to students.
