With the approval by Hubei Provincial Party Committee, the 11th Conference of Hubei Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles was held in Wuchang from July 26 to July 28, 2023. Prof. He Qingjun, dean of the School, attended this conference.
On July 27, the 11th Conference of Hubei Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles and 8th Congress of Hubei Provincial Writer’s Association were grandly opened at Hongshan Assembly Hall in Wuchang. Leaders of Hubei Provincial Party Committee, Hubei Provincial People’s Congress, Hubei Provincial Government, CPPCC Hubei Provincial Committee, including Wang Menghui, Wang Zhonglin, Sun Wei, Zhuge Yujie, Wang Yanling, Zhang Wenbing and Shao Xinyu, and Zhang Hongsen, secretary of the Party Leadership Group, vice chairman, and secretary of the Secretariat of the Chinese Writers Association, and Xu Yongjun, member of the Party Leadership Group, vice chairman, and secretary of the Secretariat of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, attended the opening ceremony. Ju Chaohui, member of the Standing Committee of the Hubei Provincial Party Committee and Head of the Propaganda Department, presided over the meeting. Chen Huixia, secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Executive Vice Chairman of the Hubei Provincial Federation of Trade Unions, delivered a speech on behalf of the mass organizations in the province.
On the morning of July 28, the 11th Congress of Hubei Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles successfully completed various agendas and concluded in Wuhan. During the two-day meeting, the report on the work of the 10th Committee of the Hubei Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles was deliberated and adopted, the revised “Constitution of the Hubei Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles” was deliberated and adopted, and the “Initiative to Literary and Artistic Workers of the Province” was issued; the newly elected Presidium of Hubei Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles was announced.
After the closing ceremony, the plenary meeting of the 11th Committee of Hubei Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the 8th Committee of Hubei Provincial Writers’ Association was held, which was chaired by Deng Wugui, executive deputy head of the Propaganda Department of the Hubei Provincial Party Committee. Ju Chaohui, member of the Standing Committee of the Hubei Provincial Party Committee and Head of the Propaganda Department, delivered an important speech.
The recommendation of representatives for this Congress focuses on increasing the proportion of representatives from grassroots and creative frontline, as well as new literary and artistic groups, and has comprehensively considered the gender, ethnicity, proportion of political parties and groups, and age structure of the representatives. Comrade He Qingjun attended the Congress as a representative of the art sector of Hubei Province.
