On June 18, 2023, under the leadership of Ms. Yu Min and Ms. Chenjiao, 50 students of Grade 2021 from the Department of Music departed from Wuhan and went to Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in Hubei Province for a five-day summer practice.
At the first stop in Lichuan, the students visited Mr. Liu Shouhong, the representative inheritor of the national intangible cultural heritage “Flesh-patting Dance”, and asked Mr. Liu to introduce the history and contemporary development of “Flesh-patting Dance”. They also had a rich and colorful interaction with the children from Xinyi Kindergarten.

Later, we went to Hubei Enshi College to listen to the lecture given by Mr. Deng Cong and learn about the methods of collecting folk songs and the characteristics of Tujia music. We also held an academic exchange concert with students from the Music Department of Hubei Enshi College.

After the visit, we went to Dongxiacao Village to visit Grandma Meng Yongxiang, the representative inheritor of the national Intangible cultural heritage “Enshi lantern drama”, and listened to her classic aria of the lantern drama. In Dongxiacao Village, Baiyangping Town, we carried out the activity of “going to the grassroots, investigating the situation of the people, solving their worries and warming their hearts” to investigate the actual situation of poverty alleviation and rural revitalization in the local area. We visited the “lantern drama” museum under the guidance of Grandma Meng.
