Series Report on Summer Practice in 2023 – Class 5 and 6 of Grade 2022 Majoring in Design Science in Taihang Mountains, Henan Province

(Reported by Dang Zhanyan) On July 1, 2023, led by Mr. Zhou Ziqin, Ms. Chi Yi, and Ms. Zheng Dandan, 47 students of Grade 2022 in Design Science from the School of Arts and Communication set out from Wuhan to Taihang Mountains Grand Canyon in Henan Province for a 12-day practice tour.

 

The first stop was Gaojiatai (Huajia Village), where Mr. Zhou led us on a tour and then started free sketching. After two days of sketching in Gaojiatai, the students went to Taihang Grand Canyon to continue sketching. In the morning, we went to the Peach Blossom Valley and Taihang Heavenly Road, where there is the Peach Blossom Creek shuttling between the valleys, and the magnificent waterfall flowing down. In the afternoon, we went to Wangxiangyan, where we experienced the steepness and trembling of cliffs and cliffs, as well as the extraordinary craftsmanship of nature.

 

 

     After two days of free sketching in the ancient villages around the Yijing Taihang Sketching Base, we set off to Red Flag Canal in the morning of the seventh day. Red Flag Canal is a national red education base and the eighth wonder of the world, known as the “man-made heavenly river. A man-made heavenly river, winding and circling between Taihang Mountains, runs through it and stands on the Taihang Mountains.

 

 

 

The last stop of this tour was the Yin Ruins site, the birthplace of Chinese oracle bone script. We learned about oracle bone culture and then visited the National Museum of Chinese Writing.

 

After dinner, a sketch summary party was held. The students benefited a lot from the 12-day sketching practice.
