On July 6, the opening ceremony of Hongqi Farm Art Summer Camp of Jiuli Sunlight Art Teaching Assistance Group of the School of Arts and Communication, China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) was successfully held in the Hongqi Farm School of the Sixth Division of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps. Xu Shenghui, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of Hongqi Farm, Bian Jianhua, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Arts and Communication of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), Zhang Shouxian, secretary of the Party Branch and Principal of the Hongqi Farm School, Vice-Principal Wang Shangtao and Ma Yan, all members of the Jiuli Sunlight Art Teaching Assistance Group, and representatives of teachers and students from the Hongqi Farm School attended the opening ceremony. The event was presided over by Vice-Principal Wang Shangtao.
First, all the personnel present stood up to sing the national anthem, facing the national flag.
Then, Zhang Shouxian, secretary of the Party Branch and Principal of Hongqi Farm School, delivered a welcome speech. On behalf of all the teachers and students of Hongqi Farm School, Principal Zhang firstly expressed the most sincere welcome to the members of the Jiuli Sunlight Teaching Assistance Group, and then briefly introduced the basic situation of Hongqi Farm School. Principal Zhang said that the art teaching assistance activity jointly organized by Hongqi Farm School and China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) is of great significance for the cause of education and the growth and development of children. In addition to students from our school, students from nearby schools also participated in this summer camp. They are all attracted by the charm of this activity and he wished the summer camp a complete success.
Subsequently, Secretary Bian delivered a speech, expressing his heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the Jiuli Sunlight Art Teaching Assistance Group to the leaders of Hongqi Farm, and the leaders and teachers of Hongqi Farm School for their trust and support in this teaching activity. After a brief introduction to the University, the school, and the basic situation of the Jiuli Sunlight Art Teaching Assistance Group, Secretary Bian said that the whole party is comprehensively and deeply studying, promoting, and implementing the spirit of the 20th National Congress of CPC, and carrying out the theme-focused education on studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. In accordance with the general requirements of “learning ideology, strengthening party spirit, emphasizing practice, and making new achievements”, the Party Committee of the School of Arts and Communication, based on the advantages of art disciplines and professional characteristics, carefully planned the art teaching assistance activity on Hongqi Farm School of the Sixth Division of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, started a new journey in the new era, and came to the western corps farm of the motherland to carry out in-depth art teaching practice, sowing the seeds of hope for aesthetic education, and looking forward to the early fruition of art. Secretary Bian also put forward requirements for all members of the teaching team. He pointed out that teaching is a two-way process and a dialogue between the heart and the mind, and the volunteers should be serious about every lesson, make every correction, adhere to the bottom line of safety, and complete the teaching task with high standards and strict requirements.
Shao Menghua, captain of the Jiuli Sunlight Art Teaching Assistance Group, spoke as a teacher representative. On behalf of all the volunteers of the teaching group, she once again thanked the leaders and teachers of Hongqi Farm for their strong support for this activity, and then introduced the basic situation of the teaching assistance activities carried out by Jiuli Sunlight Art Teaching Assistance Group since its establishment. In her speech, she mentioned that General Secretary Xi emphasized in the report of the 20th National Congress of the CPC that “The young people should unswervingly follow the instructions and guidance of the Party, embrace dreams and be down-to-earth, dare to think, do well, and achieve success. They should aspire to be good young people of the new era who have ideals, dare to take responsibility, can endure hardships, and are willing to strive.” As volunteer teachers, all members of the group will carry embrace their love for education, care for the students, and teach with a youthful and unique perseverance and enthusiasm, so as to bring more “beautiful” feelings to the children.
Immediately after, Yang Jiaqi from Hongqi Farm School gave a speech as a representative of the summer camp participants. After expressing gratitude, Yang said that she attached great importance to and cherished the opportunity to participate in this summer camp, and believed that through the week-long study, she would definitely reap the rewards of the activity, and she would also repay the teachers’ hard work with excellent grades in her future life.
Finally, Xu Shenghui, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of Hongqi Farm, made a concluding speech. Secretary Xu emphasized that the Jiuli Sunlight Art Teaching Assistance Group from China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) was responding to the hopes and requirements of the Party Central Committee for cultural undertakings, and would actively promote cultural exchanges and educational integration between regions. In his speech, he pointed out that the cause of education should be at the forefront of the development of the times, and that the art teaching activities would bring new ideas and new thinking to the Hongqi Farm, and inject a new and powerful impetus into the cause of education here. This art teaching activity is an important exercise opportunity for college students, and is a learning experience to accept new ideas and thoughts for the students of Hongqi Farm School. He hoped that the college student volunteers would earnestly excavate explore and learn the spirit of the Corps, the spirit of poplar and the spirit of veterans here, carry forward the style of hard struggle, give full play to their professional advantages, and combine the theory with practice to successfully complete this teaching activity.
After the opening ceremony, the members of the teaching group divided the children who came to register into different classes. Volunteers introduced themselves lively and vividly in their respective classrooms, transforming into adorable “Little Deer Teacher and Little Fish Teacher”. Together with the children, they drew origami, played games, and sang songs for “ice-breaking”, to enhance friendship and emotions between the two sides and bring each other closer.
Although only half a day with the children here, 16 members of the Jiuli Sunlight Art Teaching Assistance Group were infected by their innocence and loveliness, and they were full of confidence and enthusiasm for this teaching activity. After the “ice-breaking”, the teaching work officially started. In the classroom, the volunteer teachers gave enthusiastic lectures, and the students actively cooperated. Together, they learned about painting, handicrafts, dance, and music classes around the theme of “The Story of Hongqi Farm and Me”, creating a good classroom atmosphere.
Reflections on the activity:
During the opening ceremony of the summer art teaching assistance camp, both the school and students showed a very enthusiastic attitude, which gave me a lot of encouragement and support, and I felt their importance and love for art education. As a volunteer, I feel honored to participate in this summer camp. I believe that through this period of art teaching, I can bring more joy and knowledge to the children, and I will also learn a lot from them.

After classes are divided, 34 children form a dance class. The youngest children are four and a half years old in kindergarten, and the oldest children are in eighth grade. I see their love for art and dance in their clear eyes. In class, I also learned their Xinjiang dance movements from two children and experienced the charm of ethnic culture up close, which was really beautiful.

Today is the first day of official start of the music class, and I am very excited and looking forward to it. We led the children to sing “Song of the Wind” and “Piece of Your Heart”. These songs are familiar and melodious, with positive lyrics that inspire children to bravely face the challenges of life. Despite differences in age and understanding abilities, each child made an effort to participate as we worked together to learn the melodies, rhythms, and emotional expression of the songs and to demonstrate the uniqueness of their voices.
