On July 12, the Jiuli Sunlight Art Teaching Assistance Group ushered in the last day of volunteer teaching. In this summer camp, more than 140 students from Hongqi Farm School, led by 16 volunteer teachers from the volunteer teaching group, from the initial acquaintance to the gradually familiarity, learned origami painting, clay crafts, chorus piano, Latin dance, poetry recitation, etc., and created works full of unique personality in the infinite collision of art and imagination. For the children, this is an art experience full of creativity; for the university students, this is a youthful and unrepentant practical experience. On the morning of the 12th, the closing ceremony and performance of the Hongqi Farm Summer Camp of the Jiuli Sunlight Art Teaching Assistance Group officially began at the theatre of Hongqi Farm.
The event was co-organized by the Jiuli Sunlight Art Teaching Assistance Group of the School of Arts and Communication, China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) and Hongqi Farm School. Bian Jianhua, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Arts and Communication, Wang Shangtao and Ma Yan, Vice Principals of Hongqi Farm School, Li Na, office director of Hongqi Farm Kindergarten, Mr. Peng from Hongqi Farm Fuzhe Hotel, all members of the Jiuli Sunlight Art Teaching Assistance Group and the teachers and students of Hongqi Farm School attended the closing ceremony and performance.
At the beginning of the ceremony, Mr. Jianhua Bian, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Arts and Communication, China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), delivered a speech. On behalf of the Jiuli Sunlight Art Teaching Assistance Group, he firstly expressed his most heartfelt thanks to the leaders of Hongqi Farm and the leaders and teachers of Hongqi Farm School for their trust and strong support for this teaching activity. He said that he deeply felt the love and talent of the children of Hongqi Farm for art, and believed that this teaching activity, as the starting point of mutual cooperation, would enrich the results of the local aesthetic education practice, implement the Party’s strategy of Xinjiang in the new era, and effectively play the role of colleges and universities in assisting Xinjiang with culture. Finally, Mr. Bian wished the performance a great success.

In this art summer camp activity, a group of outstanding students emerged from each class, who performed excellently in class and became role models for their classmates. A total of 30 outstanding student representatives were selected through a comprehensive evaluation by the school and volunteer teachers. In the closing ceremony, Mr. Bian, Mrs. Wang, Mr. Ma, and Mr. Peng presented honorary certificates and prizes to the outstanding students on stage. The prizes were the 70th anniversary pillows and dolls with the characteristics of CUG. We hope that the award-winning students can take this opportunity to plant a seed of art in their hearts, and welcome a bright and beautiful tomorrow with full enthusiasm and infinite hope.
Subsequently, after the host’s impassioned opening speech, the Summer Art Camp Performance officially began. There were joyful dances and melodious singing at the event, which attracted many parents and neighborhood residents. The performance started with the Latin dance performance “Meet Latin” brought by all the members of the dance class, and the audience was impressed by the fast-paced and light steps of the performance. The unique Latin style danced out the charm of childhood in this vibrant and emotional moment. The wonderful performances of more than ten programs, including the songs “The Brightest Star in the Night Sky” and “Country” brought by the Hongqi Choir, the poem recitation “Ode to Integrity” and “Hongqi Farm - A Place with Stories”, the vocal performance “Riding on a White Horse” and “Stay True to the Mission”, the display of the art works “Youth is Like a Painting, Moving My Heart”, and the dance performances “Wan Jiang” and “Love China”, received warm applause from the audience on site. As the lyrics say, ‘yearn for your longing, be happy with your happiness.’ In the new era, we stay true to the Party’s founding mission and build the Chinese dream with one heart and one mind.
Finally, the chorus “My Motherland and Me” performed by Jiuli Sunlight Art Teaching Assistance Group and all the students of Summer Art Camp pushed the atmosphere of this performance to its climax. I share the fate of my motherland, and I am connected to my motherland by heart. The country is strong, the nation is rich and the people are affluent; the road to a strong nation is constantly being extended in exploration, and the dream of revitalization is constantly being advanced in struggle. My motherland and I have so much to say, and we are an endless song.
At this point, the Hongqi Farm Summer Camp closing ceremony and performance came to a successful conclusion.
This art teaching activity received great support and patient guidance from the Party Committee of Hongqi Farm and the leaders and teachers of the school, as well as the careful care and logistic support from Fuze Hotel. The sincere relationship with each other will become the most unforgettable and precious memories and remembrances for the children and the volunteers. The Jiuli Sunlight Art Teaching Assistance Group deeply felt the youth and passion of the Hongqi Farm from its “red blood, red flag, and growing under the red flag” here. The spirit of the Corps, Populus euphratica, and the spirit of veterans will also be deeply engraved in the hearts of the college students, inspiring them to stay true the mission, to forge ahead, and to compose a more brilliant artistic picture in the new journey of the new era. Reflections on Teaching:
The children were all dressed up for the show, wearing white tops, black pants, and beautiful make-up, and every one of them did a great job! The important significance of volunteer teaching is to enable children to learn about the outside world, not limited to what they learn in the classroom. It is really a memorable and impressive experience!

The volunteer teaching is far more rewarding than I could have imagined. Not only were we able to pass on knowledge, but we also made friends with a group of lovely children and enthusiastic parents. In fact, in the past few days when it was almost over, I have received various small gifts from the children, including letters, snacks, mushrooms, flowers and hair clips, all of which were carefully prepared by them.
