The Party Committee of the School of Arts and Communication conscientiously studies and implements the “Implementation Plan for Theme-focused Education on Thoroughly Studying and Implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era” issued by the Party Committee of CUG; focusing on the general requirements of “learning ideology, strengthening party spirit, emphasizing practice, and making new achievements”, it combines the theme-focused education with the fundamental task of cultivating virtues and morality, combines the theme-focused education with the talent training, scientific research, discipline construction and other work of the school, integrates the requirements of theory study, investigation and research, development promotion and inspection and rectification, and strive to achieve tangible results in studying for forging the soul, studying for wisdom, studying for Party conduct, and studying for work promotion. From now on, a series of reports on this theme will be launched on the website of the School.
In order to thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of CPC, continue to promote the theme-focused education on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era to be deeper and practical, implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s series of important speeches and the current series of deployments of the Ministry of Education on graduation education, the School of Arts and Communication adheres to the fundamental task of “cultivating virtues and morality” and holds rich and diversified theme-focused education activities to lead graduates to better set sail on the new journey of life development.
I. Theme-focused ideological education for graduates
(I) Education on the ideals and beliefs for graduates
At 14:30 on June 5, 2023, in order thoroughly study and implement the “Implementation Plan for Theme-focused Education on Thoroughly Studying and Implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era” issued by the Party Committee of CUG, to build up the ideal beliefs of young college students, and to implement the series of deployments of the Ministry of Education on graduation education work, the School of Arts and Communication held a graduation education conference with the theme of “belief, youth and struggle” in Conference Room 1104, to guide the graduates to seriously study Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, consciously practice socialist core values, combine their personal ambition to build a career with the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and serve the motherland and the people.
(II) Gratitude and integrity education for graduates
At 15:00 on June 9, 2023, in order to thoroughly study and implement the “Implementation Plan for Theme-focused Education on Thoroughly Studying and Implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era” issued by the Party Committee of CUG, and to implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s series of important speeches and the current series of deployments of the Ministry of Education on graduation education, the School of Arts and Communication held a symposium for the graduates in 2023 in Conference Room 1209. By listening to the voices of graduates, the School will continue to strengthen the relevance and effectiveness of employment education, management education and service education. The School guided the graduates to think of their roots in drinking water, to be grateful, and to be grateful for the cultivation and education of the country, schools, supervisors, and families during their growth.
(III) Employment and entrepreneurship education for graduates
The School of Arts and Communication attaches great importance to employment work. In accordance with the relevant requirements of the Ministry of Education and the university, the School focuses on combining theme-focused education with promoting the employment of college graduates in 2023 from the top-level design, and carefully plans and deploys, strictly organizes and implements, and strongly supervises and promotes the work. It also adheres to problem-oriented, integrates and implements, ensuring the pertinence of theme-focused education and promoting the effectiveness of employment work. From May 17 to 18, 2023, the School of Arts and Communication held a seminar to promote the employment of the graduates in 2023, and organized talks and exchanges for the unemployed undergraduate and postgraduate students of six majors in batches, including visual communication design, digital media art and musicology, to provide targeted answers to the confusions of graduates in the process of job selection and employment, to guide graduates to correctly understand the current employment situation and firmly establish the employment concept of “employment first, then selection, and then entrepreneurship”.
(IV) Integrity education for graduates
In order to do a good job in the education and organizational relationship management of the graduate party members in 2023, the Party Building Office of the School of Arts and Communication has organized integrity education for graduates, providing the “last party lesson” for graduate party members before leaving the school. At 15:00 on June 1, the School of Arts and Communication held a meeting for graduate Party members in Conference Room 1104, so as to improve their awareness of integrity in employment, firmly establish the concept of pride in integrity and shame in corruption, and buckle the “first button” of life. Light up the road of youth with the light of belief, encourage all students to firmly believe and actively participate in the hot practice of comprehensively promoting the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation with Chinese modernization.
(V) Safety and civilization education for graduates
To ensure the safe, civilized, and orderly departure of all graduates, the Graduate Committee of the School of Arts and Communication issued a civilized departure proposal to all graduates this year on May 17, 2023, guiding them to leave the school in a civilized manner, pay attention to personal and property safety precautions during graduation, and be a civilized person and do safe things.
(IV) Physical and mental health education for graduates
In order to solidly promote psychological education and effectively carry out mental health education for graduates during their departure from school, the School of Arts and Communication provides targeted counseling and guidance to students who are unable to graduate on time, are troubled by non-employment, have been disciplined and have other physical and mental problems, and pays close attention to the mental health of special groups of graduates.
II. Carry out graduate achievement exhibition activities to stimulate high morale
(I) Graduation project exhibition
The School of Arts and Communication, based on its teaching reality and the characteristics of art disciplines, takes the graduation project exhibition as an important part of talent training, strictly controls the students’ “graduation gate” and effectively promotes the quality and efficiency of talent training. Since May 2023, the School of Arts and Communication of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) has successively held the postgraduate and undergraduate exhibitions in the exhibition hall on the first floor of the Arts and Communication Building, which have been promoted on the school website, WeChat official account and other platforms in the form of short videos, tweets, etc., and displayed online and offline simultaneously. The project exhibition of visual communication design was also displayed in the “one-stop” community in the west district area, and the works were unanimously praised by the teachers and students of the university. The graduates used art and design to promote traditional Chinese culture and express their national sentiments, integrating the “small self” into the “big self” and demonstrating the professional ability and emotional commitment of young people in art and design at China University of Geosciences.
(II) Graduate concerts
In order to thoroughly study and implement the theme-focused education on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and actively implement the “Opinions on Effectively Strengthening Aesthetic Education in Higher Education Institutions in the New Era” of the Ministry of Education and the “Implementation Plan of Aesthetic Education in the New Era” of CUG, the School of Arts and Communication, relying on the Aesthetic Education Practice Center, organized the “Chinese and Foreign Classic Song Works Concert”, “Wishing and Thanks: Class Graduation Concert in Musicology of Grade 2019”, “With Friends: Class Graduation Concert in Musicology of Grade 2019” and “A Chorus for Time -Aesthetic Practice Choral Concert” from June 5 to 8, 2023 to implement the idea and the concept of aesthetic education in the whole process of “three-wide education”.
(III) “Declaration of the Young at the Foot of Nanwang Mountain” Graduation Music Festival
The song carries splendid memories and conveys the youthful spirit by singing. In order to thoroughly implement the “Opinions on Effectively Strengthening Aesthetic Education in Higher Education Institutions in a New Era” of the Ministry of Education and the “Implementation Plan for Aesthetic Education in a New Era” of CUG, and to innovate the second classroom of aesthetic education practice, on June 20, the “Declaration of the Young at the Foot of Nanwang Mountain” Graduation Music Festival of the School of Arts and Communication was held in the playground of the west area. Through music and art, they gather the upward power of youth, pay tribute to youth with the song of youth, and send the most sincere blessings to all graduates, fully demonstrating the vigorous spirit of the students of CUG and conveying the positive energy of youth.
(IV) Graduate style exhibition activities
With the platform of WeChat official account, the School of Arts and Communication has launched a series of special presentations, including three issues of outstanding graduates, two issues of advanced classes, seven issues of graduate thesis acknowledgement, sharing the gains and insights of graduates in their growth and creating a culture of learning, dedication, upward mobility and goodness among all students.
III. A warm farewell and confession of alma mater education activities to promote the spirit of CUG
(I) Teacher-student basketball match
The School carries out basketball matches to unite the relationship between teachers and students. At 18:00 on the evening of June 7, 2023, the School of Arts and Communication organized the “Graduates Teacher-Student Basketball Friendship Competition”, taking the match as a medium to unite the feelings and enhance the friendship between teachers and students. With the competitive spirit of unity and hard work, we will continue the spirit of excellence of CUG.
(II) Graduation season check-in activity
Record life with images, freeze beauty with images, and carry youth with images. The School of Arts and Communication has carried out a series of check-in activities in the graduation season, such as “Graduation Season Background Wall + Graduation Handheld Banner” check-in activity in front of the School Building, “Cultural Shirt Photo Signature” check-in, and “Graduation Landmark” check-in, to show the love of classmates, pass on the love of teachers and students, and continue the love for campus.
(III) Presentation of souvenirs to graduates
In order to further stimulate students’ sense of gratitude and strengthen the atmosphere of graduation, the School of Arts and Communication, together with the “Gravity” creative team of the School, carried out the activity of presenting souvenirs to graduates, expressing the care and blessings of the School to graduates and inspiring students to continue to work hard and move forward on the track of youth.
(IV) Graduates presenting souvenirs to the School
In order to think of their roots in drinking water and be grateful, the School of Arts and Communication carried out the activity of presenting souvenirs to the Schopol by graduates. Wang Enze, Li Yiping, Yu Yue and Zhang Wei, as the representatives of all graduates in 2023, presented the sign “We love the School of Arts and Communication so much” to the School, showing the love of classmates, passing on the love of teachers and students and continuing the love for campus, expressing the good wishes of the graduates in 2023 to the School and creating a warm atmosphere of the graduation season.
The School of Arts and Communication continues to promote the theme-focused education on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era to be deeper and practical, and guides graduates to be patriotic, inspiring, truthful and practical, remember the mission of the times, consciously practice the core socialist values, pass on and carry forward the spirit of “hardworking and plain-living, being realistic and pragmatic”, and contribute to the realization of the Chinese dream as a young force.
