Editor’s note: At present, all CPC members and all people from the leadership to the masses in CUG are carrying out the theme-focused education on studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era in accordance with the requirements of the “Opinions of the CPC Central Committee on Thoroughly Implementing Theme-focused Education on Studying and Implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era”. The Party Committee of the School of Arts and Communication conscientiously studies and implements the “Implementation Plan for Theme-focused Education on Thoroughly Studying and Implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era” issued by the Party Committee of CUG; focusing on the general requirements of “learning ideology, strengthening party spirit, emphasizing practice, and making new achievements”, it combines the theme-focused education with the fundamental task of cultivating virtues and morality, combines the theme-focused education with the talent training, scientific research, discipline construction and other work of the school, integrates the requirements of theory study, investigation and research, development promotion and inspection and rectification, and strive to achieve tangible results in studying for forging the soul, studying for wisdom, studying for Party conduct, and studying for work promotion. From now on, a series of reports on this theme will be launched on the website of the School.
According to the deployment of the University to carry out the theme-focused education on studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, focusing on the general requirements of “learning ideology, strengthening party spirit, emphasizing practice, and making new achievements”, and in combination with the actual work of discipline construction and scientific research innovation in the School, Prof. He Qingjun, deputy secretary of the Party committee and dean of the School, gave a special party lecture on the theme of "The Development of New Liberal Arts from the Report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China " in Conference Room 1209 of the Arts and Communication Building on the morning of June 27, 2023. All Party members of the School attended the study.
In accordance with the theoretical study requirements of reading the original text, study the original, and understanding the principles, Dean He Qingjun first led the party members to study the relevant contents of the report of the 20th National Congress of CPC.
Dean He Qingjun talked about his learning experience and insights in the report of the 20th National Congress of CPC, focusing on eight aspects of the report, including “Chinese modernization is the modernization of common prosperity for all”, “making efforts to promote high quality development”, “advance rural revitalization across the board”, “build cultural confidence and strength”, “promote revolutionary culture”, “develop cultural programs and the cultural sector”, “accelerate the development of a digital China”, and “promote harmony between humanity and nature”.
Based on the characteristics of the majors and disciplines of this School, Dean He Qingjun mainly exchanged ideas with the participating Party members on issues such as “why and how to build a new liberal arts”. He hoped that teachers must firmly grasp the three important aspects of “professional optimization”, “course quality improvement”, and “model innovation”, and make unremitting efforts to cultivate applied and composite humanities talents that meet the requirements of the development of the times.
The Party members present at the meeting said that Dean He’s report not only explained and interpreted the Party’s innovative theories, but also addressed the practical problems in the construction of the “new liberal arts” and answered their questions, which was a vivid special Party lecture for theme-focused education.
