[Series Report] School of Arts and Communication Organized Students to Watch the “Sino-Russian Art Exchange Symphony Concert”
Editor’s note: At present, all CPC members and all people from the leadership to the masses in CUG are carrying out the theme-focused education on studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era in accordance with the requirements of the “Opinions of the CPC Central Committee on Thoroughly Implementing Theme-focused Education on Studying and Implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era”. The Party Committee of the School of Arts and Communication conscientiously studies and implements the “Implementation Plan for Theme-focused Education on Thoroughly Studying and Implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era” issued by the Party Committee of CUG; focusing on the general requirements of “learning ideology, strengthening party spirit, emphasizing practice, and making new achievements”, it combines the theme-focused education with the fundamental task of cultivating virtues and morality, combines the theme-focused education with the talent training, scientific research, discipline construction and other work of the school, integrates the requirements of theory study, investigation and research, development promotion and inspection and rectification, and strive to achieve tangible results in studying for forging the soul, studying for wisdom, studying for Party conduct, and studying for work promotion. From now on, a series of reports on this theme will be launched on the website of the School.
Since the launch of the theme-focused education on studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the School of Arts and Communication has been closely following the series of deployment requirements of the “Implementation Plan on the Theme-focused Education on Studying and Implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era” of CUG, implementing the fundamental task of cultivating virtues and morality, focusing on improving the quality of independent training of talents, and implementing the practice of aesthetic education in the whole process of “three-wide education”, so as to build a talent training system for the comprehensive development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor.
At 17:40 on June 16, 2023, in order to thoroughly implement the “Opinions on Effectively Strengthening Aesthetic Education in Higher Education Institutions for a New Era” of the Ministry of Education and the spirit of the “Implementation Plan for Aesthetic Education for a New Era” of the university, as well as to innovate the second classroom of aesthetic education practice, the School of Arts and Communication organized and led a total of 72 people (63 undergraduates, and full-time and part-time counselors) to visit the performance at the Hubei Theater.
The performance was jointly presented by the Hubei Symphony Orchestra and famous Russian artists, with Dr. Zhou Jin from Wuhan Conservatory of Music at the helm, performing the Overture to “Ruslan and Ludmila”, “Violin Concerto in D Major”, Tchaikovsky’s “Suite from Swan Lake”, and “Spanish Dance”. In the most classic “Violin Concerto in D major” and “Piano Concerto in A minor”, Yuri Dydenko, a piano virtuoso from Russia, and Graf Shandlovich Murja, a violin virtuoso, performed as violin soloist and piano player respectively, presenting a magnificent audio-visual feast for the audience.
After the concert, students expressed their thoughts and feelings. Zhu Kai, a student of Grade 2020, said, “This Sino Russian Symphony Concert has made me feel the collision and exchange of music culture, and I also experienced the richness and variety of emotions of symphony music, which enriched my musical and cultural knowledge.” Dang Zhaoyan, a student of Grade 2022, said, “This concert gave me an unprecedented visual and auditory impact, and I felt more emotions of love, hope and longing, which made me experience the power of music.”
The School of Arts and Communication adheres to the fundamental task of cultivating virtues and morality and cultivating the new man of the times. By organizing the “Sino-Russian Cultural Exchange - Symphony Concert”, it deepens the construction of the “four-in-one” art education promotion mechanism of education and teaching, practical activities, campus culture and art performance, incorporates the practice of aesthetic education into the whole process of talent cultivation, and cultivates socialist builders and successors with comprehensive development of moral, intellectual, physical and aesthetic abilities.
