(Reported by Zhang Meizhen, Photography by Wan Zihan) In order to implement the goal and task of the theme-focused education on “promoting development through practical work and responsibility” and the spirit of the Science and Technology Work Promotion Conference held by CUG on June 12, to find the shortcomings of science and technology work of the School and to improve the innovation ability and overall level of science and technology work of the School, at 3:00 pm on June 19, the School held a seminar on technology development strategy in Conference Room 1209 of the Art and Communication Building. Guo Haixiang, deputy dean of the Science and Technology Development Institute, the leadership team of the School, heads of all three-level units and teacher representatives attended the seminar, which was chaired by Prof. He Qingjun, dean of the School.
Prof. Guo Haixiang, deputy dean of the Science and Technology Development Institute, delivered a report. With the title of “Strengthening Characteristics, Shaping Systems, and Entering the Mainstream”, he gave a comprehensive overview and outlook on the scientific research work of the university, especially the current situation and future work vision of humanities and social science disciplines from research overview, prominent issues and future prospects, made an announcement and interpretation of the relevant policies, and put forward targeted and innovative countermeasures and suggestions based on the disciplinary characteristics and practical work of the School of Arts and Communication.
Dean He Qingjun conveyed the spirit of the conference on promoting scientific research work of CUG, and proposed overall requirements related to strengthening and improving the scientific research work of the school, mainly focusing on horizontal project application, scientific research platform construction, and academic team building.
Deputy dean Zhang Meizhen reviewed and summarized the scientific research work of the School during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, and further clarified the construction ideas and specific initiatives of the school’s scientific research work in the current and future period.
In the free exchange session, the participating teachers put forward targeted opinions and suggestions on how to intersect, integrate, and seek common development among the three disciplines from refining the research direction, gathering the research teams, expanding the channels for project application and strengthening the construction of think tank.
In the summary of the meeting, Jin Xi, secretary of the Party Committee, pointed out that the all teachers in the School should strengthen their awareness of responsibility and crisis, be “good at planning” in finding the right direction, “good at teamwork” in building teams, “good at working” in forming characteristics, and “good at becoming successful” in understanding and adapting to changes, and contribute wisdom and strength to “strengthening the school through scientific research”.
