[Theme-focused Education] Promote the Red Classics and Integrate the Essence of Chinese and Foreign Cultures: Symphony Concert for the 70th Anniversary of CUG

(Reprinted from CUG News) (Reported by Jin Xi and Wang Kaiping, Photography by Cheng Huangxin) On June 12, the symphony concert for the 70th anniversary of CUG entitled “Promote the Red Classics and Integrate the Essence of Chinese and Foreign Cultures” was held in the Concert Hall in the North Area of Nanwangshan Campus. A rousing and soaring “Ode to the Red Flag” kicked off the concert.

 

The opening song was soprano solo “Qin Yuan Chun – Snow” sung by Yuan Yue, deputy dean of the School of Arts and Communication, which presented the grand momentum and strong voice of the times of “Brilliant heroes are those whom we will see today”.

 

Mr. Chen Guo, a visiting professor of the School of Arts and Communication, played the cello piece “Happy Saliha”, which was cheerful and lively and full of enthusiasm and vigor, reflecting the heart of the young generation in the passionate years.

 

Mr. Yu Lei from the School of Arts and Communication performed the tenor solo “Follow You”, expressing the strong will of the young Red Army soldiers to firmly believe and always follow the Party.

 

Under the fingertips of Ms. Shen Chen from the School of Arts and Communication, the piano solo “Eight Memories in Watercolor” changed the beautiful notes into a magical “brush”, depicting colorful watercolor paintings with rich local flavor in Hunan.

 

Yu Min and Yang Qing from the School of Arts and Communication jointly presented the classic and eternal “Song of the Yangtze River”, which enchanted the audience and made them feel the “mother's feelings” surging from the depths of Chinese blood.

 

 

Professors Yuri Didenko and Ekaterina Skusnichenko from the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, members of the Russian Academy of Arts, were invited to present the “Second Movement of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23” and the aria “My Dear Father” from Puccini’s opera, sending their best wishes for the 70th anniversary of CUG.

 

Professor Wang Kaiping from the School of Arts and Communication, a key talent of the “CUG Scholar” program, performed the red classic violin solo piece “Golden Coil Base” as the finale. This piece was adapted in the 1970s by the famous violin composer Chen Gang from the song “Chairman Mao's Glory Illuminates the Golden Coil Base”. The piece used folk music elements express sincere feelings, with ingenious musical ideas and passionate melodies.

 

 

The wind from the valley blows our red flag…” under the direction of young conductor Qiu Genghua, the Star Chorus, Chamber Orchestra and “Sunshine” Philharmonic Orchestra played the “Song of Exploration Crew” together. The beautiful melodies echoed in every corner of the concert hall, and the inspiring songs ignited the flaming enthusiasm of everyone. They stood up and sang the school song in unison.
