Editor’s note: At present, all CPC members and all people from the leadership to the masses in CUG are carrying out the theme-focused education on studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era in accordance with the requirements of the “Opinions of the CPC Central Committee on Thoroughly Implementing Theme-focused Education on Studying and Implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era”. The Party Committee of the School of Arts and Communication conscientiously studies and implements the “Implementation Plan for Theme-focused Education on Thoroughly Studying and Implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era” issued by the Party Committee of CUG; focusing on the general requirements of “learning ideology, strengthening party spirit, emphasizing practice, and making new achievements”, it combines the theme-focused education with the fundamental task of cultivating virtues and morality, combines the theme-focused education with the talent training, scientific research, discipline construction and other work of the school, integrates the requirements of theory study, investigation and research, development promotion and inspection and rectification, and strive to achieve tangible results in studying for forging the soul, studying for wisdom, studying for Party conduct, and studying for work promotion. From now on, a series of reports on this theme will be launched on the website of the School.
Since the launch of the theme-focused education on studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the School of Arts and Communication, based on its teaching reality, insists on the fundamental task of “cultivating virtues and morality”, and solidly promotes the implementation of the specific requirements of “improving the quality of independent talent training” in the “Implementation Plan”, so as to build a solid talent foundation and gather majestic strength for the great cause of national rejuvenation.
At 15:00p.m. on June 9, 2023, in order to thoroughly study and implement the “Implementation Plan for Theme-focused Education on Thoroughly Studying and Implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era” issued by the Party Committee of CUG, and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s series of important speeches and the current deployments of the Ministry of Education on graduation education work, the School of Arts and Communication held a symposium for the graduates in 2023 in Conference Room 1209 with the theme of “For a brighter future after graduation”. The symposium was presided over by Bian Jianhua, deputy secretary of the Party Committee, and attended by the leadership team of the School, department heads, full-time and part-time counselors of the Student Affairs Leading Group, outstanding undergraduate and postgraduate graduates.
The first item of: Mr. Bian Jianhua, deputy secretary of the Party Committee, introduced the leaders present. Leaders and teachers present at the symposium: Jin Xi (secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Arts and Communication); He Qingjun (dean of the School); Zhang Meizhen, Yang Zhe and Peng Jing (deputy deans of the School); Li Weina, Li Daibin, Zhou Li and Ning Wei (directors of level-3 units), and counselors of Student Affairs Leading Group.
The second item: Representative of outstanding graduates made speeches. Seventeen undergraduate and postgraduate graduates from different majors in the four major departments of the School shared their learning experience at the foot of Nanwang Mountain, expressing their gratitude for the earnest teachings of the country, university, school and supervisors during their growth, and bearing in mind the great kindness of their teachers. The graduates were also concerned about the development of the School and contributed their wisdom to the reform and development of the School from four aspects: campus life services, scientific research infrastructure, teaching operation and management, and discipline planning and construction.
The third item: Zhang Meizhen, Yang Zhe and Peng Jing, deputy deans of the School, present awards and gifts to outstanding graduates. Such awards and gifts consolidated the earnest expectations and sincere blessings of the mother school for graduates, and would inspire them to continue to work hard and move forward bravely on the track of youth.
The fourth item: Graduates in 2023 present a graduation souvenir to the School. Wang Enze, Li Yiping, Yu Yue and Zhang Wei, as representatives of all graduates in the year 2023, presented the signboard “We Love Our School So Much” to the School, showing the love of students, passing on the love between teachers and students, and continuing the love for campus.
The fifth item: The attending teachers and leaders made concluding remarks. Department heads and teachers further responded to the concerns of graduates and provided detailed answers to the subsequent disciplinary development plans. Bian Jianhua, deputy secretary of the Party Committee, said that “alma mater”, “mother school” and “mum department” will always be the strong backing of the graduates and will always be concerned about their growth and development. Dean He Qingjun sent a message to students that they should have dreams in their hearts, light in their eyes, and more importantly, mud under their feet; only by holding onto their ideals and not forgetting their original missions can they always achieve success. Jin Xi, secretary of the Party Committee, exhorted the students to be upright, diligent, kind and clean, to be sure to obey the law, not to step on the red line, not to break the bottom line, not to touch the high pressure line, to live up to the hopes of the great motherland and the times, and to be the disseminator of positive energy.
At the end of the symposium, all the participants recited the school song and took a group photo.
The School of Arts and Communication has always been adhering to the fundamental task of cultivating virtues and morality to cultivate the new man of the age. By listening to the voices of graduates, the School will continue to strengthen the relevance and effectiveness of employment-oriented education, management-oriented education and service-oriented education, and encourage all students to firmly believe and actively participate in the fiery practice of comprehensively promoting the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation with Chinese modernization.
