The Party Committee of the School of Arts and Communication conscientiously studies and implements the “Implementation Plan for Theme-focused Education on Thoroughly Studying and Implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era” issued by the Party Committee of CUG; focusing on the general requirements of “learning ideology, strengthening party spirit, emphasizing practice, and making new achievements”, it combines the theme-focused education with the fundamental task of cultivating virtues and morality, combines the theme-focused education with the talent training, scientific research, discipline construction and other work of the school, integrates the requirements of theory study, investigation and research, development promotion and inspection and rectification, and strive to achieve tangible results in studying for forging the soul, studying for wisdom, studying for Party conduct, and studying for work promotion. From now on, a series of reports on this theme will be launched on the website of the School.
To carry out the theme-focused education on studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, in all stages and links, we should integrate theoretical learning, investigation and research, development promotion, and inspection and rectification in an organic manner to advance as one. In the process of recruiting Party members, the School of Arts and Communication conducts assessment for each student based on the theoretical learning, training and inspection, public survey opinions, daily performance, and other aspects, ensuring that outstanding young people in the school always maintain a unified mind, firm will, coordinated actions, and strong combat effectiveness, so as to achieve tangible results in studying for forging the soul, studying for wisdom, studying for Party conduct, and studying for work promotion.
On June 8, the School of Arts and Communication held the second defense meeting for the proposed development candidates in 2023 in Room 1212 of the building of this school, with 29 proposed development candidates participating in the assessment defense. Jin Xi, secretary of the Party Committee of the School, and Bian Jianhua, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the School, were invited to serve as judges and guest reviewers, and Shan Tianyi, Chen Xiliang and Zeng Gehui, counselors of the Student Affairs Leading Group, were also the judges of this defense meeting.
At this defense meeting, 29 proposed development candidates made personal statements on their motivation to join the Party, their understanding of the Party, their performance during the training and inspection period, their self-assessment and future outlook, demonstrating the determination and perseverance of outstanding young people of the School to join the Party. Based on their growth experience and professional characteristics, the development candidates demonstrated their determination and practice of actively participating in the organizational activities of the university and the school during the training and inspection period, and approaching the party organization, which attracted the attention of the judges. In the question-and-answer session, the judges examined the reporters’ comprehensive statements and their ideological and theoretical studies. The focus was to examine their mastery of the Party’s theories, lines and guidelines, and to exchange and discuss about the art party classes, the work of grid members, how to integrate personal major with party branch work, and the 20th National Congress of CPC.
Bian Jianhua, deputy secretary of the Party Committee, said that the defense focused on the motivation of joining the Party and whether the proposed development candidate was a true believer, a true learner and a true doer, emphasizing the need to firmly believe in communism through continuous and systematic theoretical study, to continuously improve ideological awareness, and to be able to use theory to guide professional learning and work practice. In addition, all students were advised to further improve the quality of their thought reports, to reflect on themselves frequently, to find their own shortcomings, and to report truthfully to the Party organization through thought reports. At the end of the meeting, Jin Xi, secretary of the Party Committee, affirmed the excellent performance of the proposed development candidates, and said that all the students were at the critical moment of joining the Party, they should always look up to the excellent Party members, maintain the political nature of Chinese Communist Party members, spend their lives to practice the founding missions of Communist Party members, set an example and give full play to the pioneering role of Party members. The defense meeting ended successfully.
It is reported that the School of Arts and Communication implements the party branch - School two-level defense system to select outstanding young people to join the Party. The Student Party Building Office of the School makes unified preparations and conducts four defense meetings for the proposed development candidates in March, May, September and November each year; 10 student party branches select the proposed development candidates within each branch in advance, conduct assessments based on their daily basic performance, training and inspection results, public survey opinions, and theoretical learning, and then recommend 2-3 potential development candidates to participate in the defense organized by the School; the School organizes assessment judges to present a unified defense for the students recommended by the Party branches, and finally 50% to 70% of the students will be selected to pass the defense and enter the party membership development stage by combining with the results of the theoretical examination.
