Editor’s note: At present, all CPC members and all people from the leadership to the masses in CUG are carrying out the theme-focused education on studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era in accordance with the requirements of the “Opinions of the CPC Central Committee on Thoroughly Implementing Theme-focused Education on Studying and Implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era”. The Party Committee of the School of Arts and Communication conscientiously studies and implements the “Implementation Plan for Theme-focused Education on Thoroughly Studying and Implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era” issued by the Party Committee of CUG; focusing on the general requirements of “learning ideology, strengthening party spirit, emphasizing practice, and making new achievements”, it combines the theme-focused education with the fundamental task of cultivating virtues and morality, combines the theme-focused education with the talent training, scientific research, discipline construction and other work of the school, integrates the requirements of theory study, investigation and research, development promotion and inspection and rectification, and strive to achieve tangible results in studying for forging the soul, studying for wisdom, studying for Party conduct, and studying for work promotion. From now on, a series of reports on this theme will be launched on the website of the School.
In order to implement the requirements of “put more efforts on ‘practice’” in the implementation plan of CUG on theme-focused education, to thoroughly study the spirit of the 20th National Congress of CPC, to create a united, striving and upward spiritual outlook and learning atmosphere, and to further stimulate the patriotic enthusiasm and mission of teachers and students, more than 80 teachers and students of this school participated in the singing competition on “Studying the spirit of the 20th National Congress of CPC, following the CPC leadership, and forging ahead to a new journey” held by CUG on the evening of May 21 at Hongyi Hall.
In this competition, faculty members and students from the department directly under the School and the Department of Music jointly sang the song “Set Sail”; Li Qiaoshi and Zhao Yiting, undergraduate students of Grade 2019 majoring in music, served as the choir conductor and piano accompanist respectively. After more than a month of hard preparation and rehearsal, more than eighty students and teachers from different majors and grades brought a wonderful audio-visual feast to the audience.
“We set sail for our dreams, and the eagle fly freely after the storm”. The song “Set Sail” drew applause and cheers from the audience. The students and teachers from the School of Arts and Communication expressed in song their determination and commitment to forge ahead in the new era and to set sail in spite of the hardships. In the end, we received the first prize with a wonderful performance.
