Editor’s note: At present, all CPC members and all people from the leadership to the masses in CUG are carrying out the theme-focused education on studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era in accordance with the requirements of the “Opinions of the CPC Central Committee on Thoroughly Implementing Theme-focused Education on Studying and Implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era”. The Party Committee of the School of Arts and Communication conscientiously studies and implements the “Implementation Plan for Theme-focused Education on Thoroughly Studying and Implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era” issued by the Party Committee of CUG; focusing on the general requirements of “learning ideology, strengthening party spirit, emphasizing practice, and making new achievements”, it combines the theme-focused education with the fundamental task of cultivating virtues and morality, combines the theme-focused education with the talent training, scientific research, discipline construction and other work of the school, integrates the requirements of theory study, investigation and research, development promotion and inspection and rectification, and strive to achieve tangible results in studying for forging the soul, studying for wisdom, studying for Party conduct, and studying for work promotion. From now on, a series of reports on this theme will be launched on the website of the School.
Employment is pivotal to people’s wellbeing, and the employment of college graduates is even of more importance in the people’s wellbeing. The School of Arts and Communication attaches great importance to employment work. In accordance with the relevant requirements of the Ministry of Education and CUG, it focuses on combining theme-focused education with promoting the employment of college graduates in 2023 from the top-level design, carefully plans and deploys, strictly organizes and implements, and strongly supervises and promotes the work. It adheres to problem-oriented principle and controls the implementation to ensure the pertinence of theme-focused education and the effectiveness of employment promotion.
From May 17 to 18, the School of Arts and Communication held a seminar on promoting the employment of graduates in 2023, and organized discussions and exchanges among unemployed students for six majors in batches, including visual communication design, digital media art and musicology. Bian Jianhua, deputy secretary of the Party committee of the School, Shan Tianyi, a graduate counselor, and teachers of all majors, teachers in charge of graduating classes, and counselors of the graduating grade attended the meetings for different majors.
At the seminar, the graduate counselor Shan Tianyi conducted employment-related business knowledge training, introducing in detail the business knowledge related to career selection period and fresh graduates, general knowledge related to civil service examination, as well as the operation guide of electronic signing system for colleges and universities in Hubei. She helped students interpret the employment policies, answer their misunderstandings and confusions in employment and career selection, and provided comprehensive and multi-dimensional employment guidance for graduates.
Bian Jianhua, deputy secretary of the Party committee of the School, emphasized the importance of employment work for college graduates, reported the current employment situation of each major, and made targeted analysis and guidance on different situations for each major by category, such as the no offer for employment in enterprises, no offers for civil service examination, the temporary suspension of contract signing with offer, studying abroad, and taking postgraduate entrance examination for the second time. He pointed out that the School would provide accurate employment support for graduates, provide precise services and individual guidance to different types of students to be employed, and collaborate with the whole chain of the School to help unemployed students to be well employed, so as to form a closed loop of high-quality training for students. In view of the distinctive discipline and professional characteristics of the School, Secretary Bian also encouraged students to fully understand the advantageous position of their own profession in the industry, to determine the real career development goals suitable for themselves on the basis of a full understanding of industry needs, to further broaden employment channels and employment methods, to participate in various social practices and internships through a variety of channels, to accumulate work experience, to enhance their own abilities, to achieve good employment and good career.
Through this employment seminar, the School further accurately understood the employment intentions of unemployed graduates and provided targeted answers to the confusion faced by graduates from various majors in the process of career selection and employment. Next, the School will take problem sorting and problem investigation as the basic links, firmly grasp the fundamental task of theme-focused education, scientifically plan and carefully organize, strengthen theoretical learning and application, take theme-focused education as an opportunity to strengthen employment classification and guidance, so as to advance into a new journey with cohesion, vigor and perseverance.
