[Series Report] Successful Holding of the Expert Exchange Symposium for the 9th “Internet Plus” Competition

Editor’s note: At present, all CPC members and all people from the leadership to the masses in CUG are carrying out the theme-focused education on studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era in accordance with the requirements of the “Opinions of the CPC Central Committee on Thoroughly Implementing Theme-focused Education on Studying and Implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era”. The Party Committee of the School of Arts and Communication conscientiously studies and implements the “Implementation Plan for Theme-focused Education on Thoroughly Studying and Implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era” issued by the Party Committee of CUG; focusing on the general requirements of “learning ideology, strengthening party spirit, emphasizing practice, and making new achievements”, it combines the theme-focused education with the fundamental task of cultivating virtues and morality, combines the theme-focused education with the talent training, scientific research, discipline construction and other work of the school, integrates the requirements of theory study, investigation and research, development promotion and inspection and rectification, and strive to achieve tangible results in studying for forging the soul, studying for wisdom, studying for Party conduct, and studying for work promotion. From now on, a series of reports on this theme will be launched on the website of the School.

Since the launch of the theme-focused education on studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the School of Arts and Communication, based on its teaching reality, has been actively promoting the implementation and efficiency of theme-focused education in accordance with the specific requirements of “improving the quality of independent talent training” in the “Implementation Plan”, with the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education as the driver.

At 9:00 a.m. on May 19, 2023, in order to thoroughly study and implement the “Implementation Plan for Theme-focused Education on Thoroughly Studying and Implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era” issued by the Party Committee of CUG, to promote talent training and practice innovation, to and deepen the education reform led by the China College Students’ “Internet Plus” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, the School of Arts and Communication carried out expert guidance activity for “Internet Plus” Competition in Conference Room 1209. Professor Zhou Guohua from the School of Economics and Management was invited to give professional guidance. Bian Jianhua, deputy secretary of the Party committee of the School, advisor Ni Bin, counselor Shan Tianyi and leaders of the three key projects participated in this exchange symposium.

The first item of the meeting was a presentation by Shang Ruixuan, the project leader of the “Sea Lily Emotional Intelligent Music Robot”. Prof. Zhou Guohua proposed targeted suggestions on four aspects of the project: research content, market positioning, marketing promotion and strategic layout, enlightening the students to think from the perspective of an investor.

The second item of the meeting was a presentation by Ran Yixi, the project leader of the “Ferry Man - A Virtual Reality-based Palliative Care Assistance Scheme”. Prof. Zhou Guohua commented on the current project based on the business plan, proposing to seize the real pain points of the project and highlight the issues such as market demand.

The third item of the meeting was a presentation by Han Yue, the project leader of “Cultural and Creative Chain”. Prof. Zhou Guohua focused on the key points of the “Growth Group” and taught them relevant experience, and made suggestions for optimizing the correlation structure and marketing strategies of the cultural and creative industry chain.

The meeting was concluded by Prof. Zhou Guohua and Deputy Secretary Bian Jianhua. Prof. Zhou Guohua affirmed the creative insights of the three teams, while emphasizing that the participating teams still need to focus on the business model of their projects to enhance their competitiveness. Deputy Secretary Bian Jianhua expressed his hope that the students would learn the essence of previous excellent projects, give full play to the mode of teamwork, promote the application through competition, and hone their skills and abilities in the competition.

The School of Arts and Communication firmly adheres to the overall requirements of theme-focused education, promotes the innovation in talent training and practice, and takes practical actions to promote theme-focused education to the heart, to go deeper and to be practical. Through this exchange symposium, the teams had a more comprehensive understanding of the “Internet Plus” Competition, which clarified the direction and ideas for further improvement of the project.
