[Series Report] Learning for Wisdom: Improving Undergraduate Teaching Quality

   Editor’s note: At present, all CPC members and all people from the leadership to the masses in CUG are carrying out the theme-focused education on learning and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era in accordance with the requirements of the “Opinions of the CPC Central Committee on Deeply Implementing Theme-focused Education on Learning and Implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era”. The Party Committee of the School of Arts and Communication conscientiously studies and implements the “Implementation Plan for Theme-focused Education on Deeply Learning and Implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era” issued by the Party Committee of CUG; focusing on the general requirements of “learning ideology, strengthening party spirit, emphasizing practice, and making new achievements”, it combines the theme-focused education with the fundamental task of cultivating virtues and morality, combines the theme-focused education with the talent training, scientific research, discipline construction and other work of the school, integrates the requirements of theory study, investigation and research, development promotion and inspection and rectification, and strive to achieve tangible results in learning for forging the soul, learning for wisdom, learning for Party conduct, and learning for work promotion. From now on, a series of reports on this theme will be launched on the website of the School.

Since the launch of the theme-focused education on learning and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, in combination with its own disciplinary characteristics, the School of Arts and Communication has been adhering to the principle of on forging the soul with learning to carry out educational and teaching activities. In order to meet the new round of undergraduate review and assessment, the School, based on its own advantages and focusing on the “soul forging project for the new generation” in the “Implementation Plan” for theme-focused education of CUG, takes the lecture competition for young teachers as an opportunity to effectively promote the integration of ideological and political education in all courses into subject education.

 (Reported by Wan Zihan) At 14:30 p.m. on May 16, the School of Arts and Communication held a lecture competition for young teachers in Conference Room 1209 of the School. Jin Xi, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, Zhang Meizhen, Yang Zhe, Yuan Yue and Peng Jing, deputy deans of the School, and Prof. Li Li, supervisor of the School, attended the meeting as the experts of review group. The meeting was presided over by deputy dean Yang Zhe.

Zhang Ziying, a teacher from the Department of Visual and Media Design, participated in the lecture competition, and her course was “New Media Design Methods”. Before the course, she actively interacted with students to create a good class atmosphere, using the art media display of the famous K11 business district in Wuhan and the Yangtze River Bridge light show as the breakthrough point to introduce the expressions of contemporary new media. In the course, she also shared many excellent cases and videos, vividly demonstrating the beauty of new media art.

The experts of the review group provided elaborate guidance and professional suggestions on the presentation of the course content and the teaching format.

Finally, the experts present gave encouragement and recognition to Ms. Zhang Ziying and hoped that she would actively prepare and strive to achieve good results in the university-level competition later on!
