Teachers and Students of the Department of Journalism and Communication Attended the Intensive Learning of “China Journalism and Communication Forum” - Hubei Branch

(Reported by Yu Menghan and Wang Qi) On the afternoon of December 29, 2022, the branch theme day activity time, in order to innovate the branch learning form, further implement the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, at 14:30 p.m., the branch of the Department of Journalism and Communication organized and mobilized teachers and students to participate in the online learning session of 2022 China Journalism and Communication Lecture - Hubei Branch with the theme of “New Era, New Journey: The Mission and Role of Journalists”. More than 2000 teachers and students from 23 colleges and universities in the province participated in the study. All teachers, graduate students and freshmen of the Department of Journalism and Communication of this School participated in the study.

 

The conference was co-chaired by Professor Gao Xiaohong of Communication University of China, Director of the Steering Committee for Teaching Journalism and Communication in Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Education, and Professor Qiang Yuexin, Dean of the School of Journalism and Communication, Wuhan University. Weng Xudong, Qu Xin, Lu Xiaoyi and Li Chaopeng from Communication University of China, who have participated in the production of the lecture, were the keynote speakers. They selected the production videos from the 32 lectures of China Journalism and Communication Forum in 2022 and shared their views on, as a good journalist, how to keep a flexible mind to innovate the discourse, how to call out the voice of " agriculture, rural areas and farmers" in the noisy public opinion field, and how to be a qualified journalist, as well as the attitude and height of a good journalist in the new era from the four aspects of footwork, vision, brains and writing skills. The explanations of the four students were clear, interesting and thorough.

 

This collective online learning is a useful attempt to deeply understand the general requirements of party building in the new era and the organizational line of the Party in the new era. The teachers and students of the Department of Journalism and Communication, on the basis of learning at the meeting, deeply thought about and fully communicated with each other, and earnestly appreciated the importance of persisting in cultivating young people in the new era under the leadership of the Party and upholding the Marxist views of journalism in practice.

The China Journalism and Communication Forum was founded in 2020 and has been held for three years. Promoted by the Ministry of Education, the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China and the All-China Journalists Association, and organized and implemented by the Steering Committee for Teaching Journalism and Communication in Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Education, the Forum has built a long-term mechanism and achieved practical results in cultivating outstanding journalism and communication talents who can tell China’s stories and tell China’s stories well.
