With the coming of cold-air outbreak, the temperature in Wuhan will suddenly drop to about zero. In order to get a deeper grasp of the students' ideological trends and their difficulties in study and life, in accordance with the work requirements for Party members and cadres to “go to the grassroots, check the conditions of the people, solve their problems and warm their hearts”, under the leadership of Guo Xiurong, Secretary of the Party Committee, Bian Jianhua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, and all full-time and part-time counselors of the Student Affairs Leading Group visited all the student dormitories on the evening of November 28. During the visit, some students reflected that because of the current policy requirements for the epidemic prevention and control in Wuhan, the express logistics around the university and the shops were in a state of stagnation and closure, resulting in their inability to receive cotton padded clothes and quilts sent from home and purchased online. After understanding the actual difficulties of the students, the student affairs leading group promptly conducted a survey and statistics to accurately grasp the number of students’ needs for cotton clothes and quilts. The Party Committee of the School immediately issued an initiative to all staff to donate love and warmth, and mobilized teachers to sort out and collect the cotton padded clothes and quilts left unused at home and donate them to students to keep them warm and out of the cold.
On the evening of the 28th and the morning of the 29th, after reading the initiative, the teachers of the School responded positively in the group. Even though some teachers were confined at home, they still expressed the idea of sending clothes immediately after lifting lockdown. On the morning of the 29th, Bian Jianhua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, led counselors Shan Tianyi, Chen Xiliang and Zeng Gehui to purchase 10 quilts in two off campus stores. As of noon, a total of 18 down jackets, coats, sweaters and sweaters and 6 quilts were donated by teachers. From 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Guo Xiurong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, Bian Jianhua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, and all full-time and part-time counselors went to the students' dormitories to deliver cotton padded clothes and quilts for them, sending the love and warmth of the Party Committee and all staff in the cold winter days. The students expressed their gratitude to the school and the teachers.
