On the afternoon of October 17, the School of Arts and Communication organized the party and government leadership team, the branch committees of all staff party branches, the secretary of student party branch, members of the League student organizations, teachers and student representatives to hold a teacher-student forum to exchange and study the report made by General Secretary Xi Jinping to the General Assembly on behalf of the 19th Central Committee.
Guo Xiurong, secretary of the Party Committee of the School, said:
The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) is a very important congress held at a critical moment when the whole Party and people of all ethnic groups are embarking on a new journey of building a modern socialist country in all respects and marching towards the second century goal.
First, the Party’s overall leadership is an important guarantee for the country’s extraordinary achievements in the past and for its future success in the tests in the new era.
Second, education is a fundamental task for the country and the Party. As educators, we have a glorious mission and great responsibility. As educators, we should enhance our sense of mission, fully implement the Party's education policy, implement the fundamental task of cultivating virtues and morality, and contribute our own strength to building an educational power.
Third, we should have firm cultural confidence, tell the Chinese story, and spread the Chinese voice. As teachers and students of the School of Arts and Communication, we should adhere to the people as the center, take root in the motherland, tell Chinese stories well, sing the voice of CUG, and constantly enhance the dissemination and influence of Chinese civilization.
Next, the Party Committee of the School will organize all teachers and students to earnestly study and implement the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, and resolutely implement the decisions and arrangements of the General Secretary and the CPC Central Committee. Just as the General Secretary required in the report that “Empty talks jeopardize national interests, while hard work rejuvenates the nation”, we should implement the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress into our own practical work, anchor the development direction of the School, rise to the challenge, work hard, and contribute to the high-quality development of the School and the realization of a world-class university in the field of earth science.
Zhang Meizhen, Deputy Dean of the School, said:
I’m deeply encouraged by the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s speech at the opening session of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. As a front-line educator, we should follow the guidance of Xi Jinping’s thought of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era, keep in mind the responsibility and mission of “educating people for the Party and the country”, forge ahead bravely, work hard, and strive to cultivate high-quality and excellent talents.
As a grass-roots party cadre, we should be clean and honest, diligent and pragmatic, actively devote ourselves to teaching and research, and strive for the Party's education for life. We should unite more closely around the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, “listen to the Party, follow the Party”, and unite and lead teachers and students to make contributions to building a modern socialist country in all respects and realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
Yuan Yue, Deputy Dean of the School, proposed:
The report comprehensively deploys fifteen major aspects of future construction, especially singling out education and culture, highlighting the high importance and strategic deployment of the Party Central Committee to rejuvenate the country through science and education and strengthen the country through culture, emphasizing the supporting role of talents and pointing out the important role of education, science and technology in the overall situation.
As a music educator, I must always bear in mind the original aspiration and mission, solidly implement the fundamental task of cultivating virtues and morality, make quality music education closely linked to the people and music practices, let the spirit of music education spread in the motherland, and make contributions to the cause of aesthetic education in the music era.
Bian Jianhua, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the School, shared his experience in learning the report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China:
General Secretary Xi’s report to the 20th CPC National Congress is a comprehensive and in-depth summary of the work of the past five years and a decade of great changes in the new era. The report is farsighted, broad and profound, plain in language and frequent in golden sentences, which impressed me deeply. Here I would like to share with you:
On the issue of the people's livelihood, ensure access to child care, education, employment, medical services, elderly care, housing, and social welfare assistance. On the rectification of the Four Malfeasances, use the spirit of nailing. On the fight against corruption, it is better to offend hundreds of people than to blame 1.4 billion people. The self-reform of the Party ensures that the Party will never change its nature, its conviction, or its character. The great achievements of the new era have come from the collective dedication and hard work of our Party and our people. On promoting cultural self-confidence and self-improvement, we must uphold socialism, rally public support, foster a new generation with sound values and ethics, develop Chinese culture, and build a positive image of China. This country is its people; the people are the country. As the Communist Party of China has led the people in fighting to establish and develop the People's Republic, it has really been fighting for their support. On one country, two systems and reunification of our country, complete reunification of our country must be realized, and it can, without doubt, be realized. On full and rigorous self-governance, ensure the Party’s progressive nature and integrity to cast a strong synergy of fulfilling the Chinese dream with one heart.
As a grass-roots party worker in colleges and universities, we should actively study, publicize and implement the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, guide the development of students’ ideological and political education work, work solidly in strengthening the quality of student party members development and the quality improvement education for party members. “The river is always keeping clean, since there is inflowing water from its source.” We will make due contributions to ensure the Party’s progressive nature and integrity!
Liu Jun, secretary of the Party branch of the Department of Visual and Media Design, said:
Yesterday, I listened to the work speech of the General Secretary at the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) online, and I was very excited and moved. I was touched by the enthusiastic atmosphere of learning on the spot, where we listened to the speech of the General Secretary together, with a sense of holiday cheerfulness and happiness for the strong prosperity of our country.
At the same time, I have two personal understandings. One is that the goal of building a powerful modern socialist country in all respects presented in the report points out the goal for us in the next step. The second is that the new form of civilization proposed in the report points out the goal of innovative development for us in education, talent training, scientific and technological research, etc. We should integrate the essence of traditional culture and carry out innovative talent training and research in line with the development with Chinese characteristics for the future.
Shan Tianyi, secretary of the Youth League Committee of the School, said:
General Secretary Xi Jinping said: “The strong youth make a strong country. Contemporary Chinese youth are born at the right time, and they have a very broad stage to display their talents and a very bright prospect to realize their dreams. The whole Party should take youth work as a strategic work, arm the youth with the Party’s scientific theory, inspire the youth with the Party’s original mission, and be the confidant of young friends, the enthusiast of youth work, and the guide of young people.”
As a college counselor, the General Secretary's earnest request has pointed out the direction for our work. We should care for, serve and light up students in a down-to-earth manner, with heart and effort, use the Party’s ideals and beliefs to unite the youth, arm the youth with the Party’s scientific theory, cultivate the youth with core values of Chinese socialism, and stimulate the youth with the historical mission of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. We will help young students run better on their youth track and hand in qualified struggle answers with our own practical actions!
Tian Jin, a graduate student of Grade 2021 in Interaction Design, said:
General Secretary Xi Jinping said, “From this day forward, the central task of the Communist Party of China will be to lead the Chinese people of all ethnic groups in a concerted effort to realize the Second Centenary Goal of building China into a great modern socialist country in all respects.” The Party has its task, and we have our mission.
As a Party activist, we should arm our minds with the Party's scientific theory, listen to the Party and follow the Party, study and implement the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, and grow up to be a new man of the times who takes up the important task of national rejuvenation.
As a student cadre, we should not only serve the students wholeheartedly, but also start from our own efforts to practice the core values of Chinese socialism, pay attention to our own style of speaking, improve our internal cultivation, and enhance the influence of Chinese civilization.
Finally, as young talents, we should not only do a deep and practical job in professional research, but also create new impetus for development and new advantages for ourselves, focusing on the originality and innovation of our works, being an excellent young man with ideals, responsibilities, hardship and struggle.
Xu Yikun, a graduate student of Grade 2021 in Journalism and Communication, said:
The report to the 20th CPC National Congress is substantial and inspiring for me. In the report, General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out: “The strong youth make a strong country. Contemporary Chinese youth are born at the right time, and they have a very broad stage to display their talents and a very bright prospect to realize their dreams.”
As a graduate student in the new era, I will firmly believe in my ideals, be determined to strive and struggle, transform my enthusiasm for serving the motherland and creating the future into practical actions, study professional knowledge hard, constantly improve my professional quality and write my thesis on the land of the motherland. As a member of the Presidium of the Graduate Student Union, I will actively set an example, respond to the call with the majority of graduate students, and aspire to be a good youth in the new era who has ideals, dare to take responsibility, can bear hardships, and is willing to struggle, so that youth can bloom in the hot practice of building a modern socialist country in all respects.
Wang Enze, secretary of the undergraduate Party branch of Grade 2019 in Musicology, said:
As a college student interested in law and majoring in law as a minor, what caught my attention most in the report was the eighth part “Adhere to the comprehensive advancement of law-based governance and promote the construction of China under the rule of law”.
President Xi Jinping pointed out in his report that we should continue to follow the path of socialist rule of law with Chinese characteristics, adhere to building a socialist legal system, comprehensively promote the legalization of all aspects of the country, and advance our legal system from three aspects of legislation, law enforcement and justice. Continuing to play the leading role of the Constitution and advocating the study of the Constitution for all people will also help us to understand our own country better.
As college students in the new era, we should respond to the call of the Party and the State and be good citizens who respect the law, learn the law, abide by the law and use the law. As the secretary of the student party branch, I will also continue to play a pioneering and exemplary role as a party member, carry out constitutional study and other activities in the branch, promote the socialist spirit of rule of law with Chinese characteristics, and create a good atmosphere of learning and abiding by the law in the branch from myself.
Tang Haoting, secretary of the undergraduate Party branch of Grade 2019 in Environmental Art Design, said:
After watching the opening session of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), in combination with my own work experience and major, I focused on the content of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on maintaining harmony between humanity and nature and strict Party self-governance. As a party member in the major of environmental art design, we are very lucky to contribute to the prosperity of our country through our professional knowledge. We are able to use our professional knowledge to transform our love for our country into a harmonious living environment and turn the hope sent by the Party to our young people in the new era into the fragrance of birds and flowers.

While listening to the speech, I particularly noticed the important remarks of General Secretary Xi on the construction of socialist culture. He emphasized the need to promote cultural self-reliance and self-improvement, establish a strong cohesive and leading socialist ideology, practice the core values of Chinese socialism, and enhance the transmission and influence of Chinese culture.
As a student in radio and television, my major just meets these requirements, which makes me full of confidence in my major and clearer about the direction I should work. In my future work, I will do a solid job in publicity and spread mainstream ideology and values, and contribute a small part to the construction of socialist culture.
Liu Miaochong, a student of Grade 2020 in Digital Media, said:
General Secretary Xi Jinping sent a message to the young people: “The strong youth make a strong country.” The new era is the time for young people to show their talents and skills, and also the time for us to face difficulties, rise up and act, and take on the burden of the times.
