An Opening Ceremony and Welcome Evening Party for New Students of Grade 2022 Successfully Held

At 19:00 on September 30, 2022, the Opening Ceremony and Welcome Evening Party for New Students of Grade 2022 of the School of Arts and Communication, CUG officially started in the concert hall of the School.

The leaders and teachers participating in this event include Guo Xiurong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Arts and Communication, Zhang Meizhen, Yuan Yue and Peng Jing, Deputy Deans of the School, Bian Jianhua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Li Weina, Director of the School Office, Cheng Huangxin, a teacher of the Department of Landscape Studies, and teachers from the School Office and the Student Affairs Leading Group.

First, under the auspices of Bian Jianhua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, all teachers and students sang the national anthem together, opening the opening ceremony with sonorous and powerful notes

 

 

Second, Guo Xiurong, secretary of the Party Committee of the School, delivered a speech on behalf of the School. She extended a warm welcome to all the new students of Grade 2022, introduced the basic situation of the School, and put forward three hopes and suggestions for the new students: hard study and all-round development; cooperation and tolerance, beauty and common; clean and upright atmosphere, determination and virtue.

 

Third, Associate Professor Cheng Huangxin from the Department of Landscape Studies made a speech as the representative of teaching staff. As an “old CUGer” who has been in the university for 20 years, Mr. Cheng said that studying in the university is a two-way journey of mutual achievement, “at the time of graduating, students receive their desired offer, while the university reaps outstanding graduates”; studying in the university is the best time for thinking and innovation, as well as the immersion experience of communication and collaboration, hoping that students will embrace the real life and love specific people.

 

Fourth, Wang Yue spoke on behalf of the undergraduate freshmen of Grade 2022. On behalf of all 2022 undergraduate freshmen of Grade, she sent sincere wishes for the 70th anniversary of the University. She said that at new comers to CUG, we should be full of ambition and hope, and grow up to be the new generation who can take up the responsibility of national rejuvenation in the future.

 

Fifth, Xu Shiyang, the representative of new graduate students of Grade 2022, made a speech. With the theme of “Youth and Struggle”, he expressed three basic accomplishments that a graduate student should have when entering the graduate stage of study: self-improvement, integrity and courage to climb. It is our bounden duty to “create beauty”, “study beauty” and “promote beauty”. At a student of the School of Arts and Communication, we should adhere to the spirit of “hard work, simplicity, truthfulness and pragmatism” and contribute our own strength to the sonorous cause of the rejuvenation of the motherland.

 

Sixth, Gui Xiyan, the representative of senior students and the president of undergraduate student union of Grade 2020, made a speech. She expressed her warm welcome and heartfelt congratulations to the new students on behalf of all the current students, and proposed that the most important thing in college life was still to study hard, and hoped that everyone would arrange their time wisely and spend a fulfilling college life.

 

Finally, the outstanding students in military training were commended, and Deputy Dean Zhang Meizhen read out the decision on commending the outstanding students in military training of the School. 25 students including Li Xinyu, Zhang Jingzhi, Dong Xiru, Yang Shiyun and Liu Xiaoyu were awarded the title of “Outstanding Model Soldiers in Military Training”; 13 students including Bian Chenxu, Liu Chengdu, Zhu Jinchuan, Zou Jingrui and Dang Zhaoyan were awarded the title of “Outstanding Individual in Military Training”. Zhang Meizhen, Yuan Yue and Peng Jing, the three deputy deans, presented awards to the winning students.

 

 

After the opening ceremony, the much-anticipated orientation party started with enthusiastic cheers.

NDS Street Dance Club opened the show with a powerful dance called "pink venom". The dance was youthful and energetic, and the enthusiasm of the audience on stage was instantly driven, with thunderous applause.

 

Zhou Ruitong, a freshman student, performed “Qian Si Xi” with her unique opera tune and ancient style and charm. The beautiful singing voice and natural manner made her like a fairy in the Tang Dynasty. We were still being immersed at the end of the song.

 

Yang Rui, a freshman pop prince, brought a song called “Unbreakable Love”. The sad tune paired with the teenage sense of singing gave the song a new life. True love may have regrets, but teenage emotions are always warm, and we are impressed by the resilience and bravery conveyed in the heavenly song.

 

A great show and fun game activities always go best together. In the interactive game of “Relieving the Bracelet”, everyone actively raised their hands to participate, and the atmosphere was active.

 

Li Menghan, a freshman, brought the theme song “Parting Love” of the recent hit TV drama “Love between Fairy and Devil”. The entire concert hall instantly echoed with songs full of a sense of fairy world, with a sound full of oriental beauty, lilting and evocative.

 

In the program “Tang Bohu”, Jiang Ziyi, a freshman, performed the brilliant image of Tang Bohu. When singing, she was impassioned and inspiring; when painting, she was fine and handsome, and everyone was impressed by her.

 

During the interactive raffle time, everyone participated actively and the winning students received the prizes sponsored by Gravity Cultural and Creative Studio.

In the second half, Wang Xinglin, a freshman, brought the Dai dance “Zanha”. The dance was sometimes graceful, sometimes athletic and agile, sometimes dashing and powerful, and everyone was amazed by the dance.

 

Li Hangzheng, a student from the Jock Magic Troupe, presented an interactive magic show. Each magic trick brought a surprise to everyone, and then he revealed the principle of the magic trick and everyone was amused to laugh.

 

Yi Zhaopeng, a new graduate student of Grade 2022, brings us “not angry”. He weaved a soft tone with strings and songs, slowly dyeing the atmosphere with a layer of warm gold.

 

Wen Ting and other students quickly catch the audience’s eyes with the hot dance “waiting for you” in a fast pace, making everyone’s emotions rise for a short time.

 

The final program was the chorus song “Looking Back” and “The Song of Exploration Crew” presented by the Star Chorus. The singing sounded like invisible silk flowing through the concert hall, and the audience feel into the gentle music.

 

Finally, the School leaders and all the performing students took a group photo together, and the welcome party came to a successful end.
