An Integration of Aesthetic Education and Disciplines: 16 Concerts for the 70th Anniversary of CUG

In order to welcome the 70th anniversary of CUG, the School of Arts and Communication, relying on the discipline construction and professional development goals and the integration with its aesthetic characteristics, held 16 concerts in the first half of 2022 with the theme of "Celebrating the Seventy Years of Glory and Dreaming for the Future", and thousands of audience felt the blessings of the teachers and students of School of Arts and Communication to the University. We sing the voice of CUG with the beauty of music and celebrate the 70th anniversary of CUG with artistic movement.

“Express our thoughts and wishes with poems and songs”. The "Chinese Poetry Art Song Concert" skillfully integrated music and poetry, showing the charm of traditional Chinese culture and playing the sound of Chinese rhythm with a professional lineup and masterpieces. “Soulmates” and "Back to Classics - Chamber Music Teaching Concert" let the audience return to peace in the graceful music and let their thoughts slowly release with the music through chorus, solo, mixed voice and other forms. The late spring has passed, and the midsummer is approaching. From "The Voice of Summer" to "Playing at Nanwang Mountain", piano, violin and flute provided us with pleasant sound, and the trio, quartet, and Piano Duet were amazing. In the continual-running history river, the movement of youth has always been stirring our hearts. “Nanwang Future, Symphonic Stars - Symphonic Concert” combined the slender and warm repertoire of chamber music with the majestic symphonic concerto, and interpreted the patriotic enthusiasm with song, which was inspiring.

Since its establishment, the School of Arts and Communication has deeply integrated its professional characteristics, constantly improved its education system in practical teaching, and cultivated numerous outstanding art students. At the “Huang Mingren: Master of Fine Arts Solo Concert” and “Undergraduate Graduation Concert” by Li Chang'e and Feng Min, the singers’ changeable singing styles pushed the atmosphere of the concerts to a new high time after time. “Singing and Advancing with You at Nanwangshan Campus”, the graduation concert of the 2022 musicology minor class was a successful answer delivered by students from different schools and majors after the immersion of campus aesthetic culture.

The 16 concerts took four months and more than 100 people were involved in the preparation. From late spring to late summer, from classical to modern, the celebration concerts held by the School of Arts and Communication in the past six months were not only a beautiful feast for hearing, but also the most sincere wishes from teachers and students in their own way.

Over the years, the School of Arts and Communication has always adhered to the fundamental task of establishing moral education, followed the characteristics of aesthetic education, rooted in the life of the times, insisted on “educating people with beauty and culture”, follow the school motto of “hardworking and plain-living, being realistic and pragmatic”, combined the practice of aesthetic education with discipline construction, let the beauty of music infiltrate the campus, and let the atmosphere of celebration warm the hearts of people. In the 70th anniversary of CUG, the School of Arts and Communication will continue to take advantages of the characteristics of aesthetic education to dedicate its wonderful voice to the teachers and students of the University.
