At 9:00 on September 25, 2022, the 2022 freshmen entrance education activity of the School of Arts and Communication of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) was held in Room 208 of No. 3 Teaching Building.
The leaders and teachers who participated in this activity included Bian Jianhua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, Shan Tianyi, Counselor of the Student Affairs Leading Group and Secretary of the Youth League Committee, Chen Xiliang, Counselor of the Student Affairs Leading Group and Director of the Party Building Office, Wang Dong, Police Officer of Yujiashan Police Station, Huang Hai from the Mental Health Education Center of CUG, Zhu Huan from the Academic Affairs Section of the School, and Zeng Gehui, Counselor of the Student Affairs Leading Group. The lecture was hosted by Chen Shubo, a part-time counselor of the School.
In the first activity, Bian Jianhua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, made a speech, firstly congratulating the 2022 freshmen on their successful completion of military training, and briefly introducing the basic situation of the School, and then he gave guidance to their college career planning. He proposed that all freshmen should make an overall plan and clarify three goals, i.e. ideological construction goals, academic goals and career goals; be a manager in four aspects, i.e. time manager, body manager, emotional manager and wealth manager; learn to deal with eight kinds of relationships, i.e. classmates, lovers, mentors, relatives, friends, team, peers and dormitory relationships. Finally, he also talked about his understanding of labor education in universities, which was to respect workers, build labor awareness, respect the fruits of labor, and develop labor skills. Secretary Bian expressed his deepest expectation for all new students. University is an important stage for a person to grow up and become a talent, and he expected everyone to strive to be a producer of science (geology), a disseminator of excellent culture (geology) and a practitioner of aesthetic education (geology), and to be a CUG media person with both ability and integrity.
In the second lecture, Shan Tianyi, counselor of the Student Affairs Leading Group and secretary of the Youth League Committee, explained the construction of the study style, the work of the Youth League Committee, innovation and entrepreneurship policies, the main events of innovation and entrepreneurship, and the innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives of the School. At the same time, Ms. Shan also showed some excellent results achieved by the School and students, which made students more confident and confident to develop their innovative spirit. At the end of the lecture, Ms. Shan gave us an earnest message of "moving forward together with the most beautiful dream", and welcomed everyone to join the big School family.
The third lecture was given by Mr. Chen Xi Liang, the counselor of the Student Affairs Leading Group and director of the Party Building Office of this School. With the theme of "Party organization building and training of Party activists", he introduced the work of being a student Party member and Party member education to all new students. "Communists should not only join the Party organizationally, but also ideologically", Mr. Chen emphasized that correct motivation for joining the Party is the fundamental reason for joining the Party ideologically.
The fourth lecture started at two o'clock in the afternoon and the main speaker was Zeng Gehui, the counselor of the Student Affairs Leading Group. She explained the related awards and subsidies policies for college students, including the basic selection conditions for various awards and grants such as National Scholarship, National Inspirational Scholarship, CUG Talent Scholarship, Undergraduate Social Scholarship and social grants, as well as the application methods for work-study positions, to guide the direction for students with family difficulties.
The fifth lecture, delivered by Zhu Huan from the Academic Affairs Section of the School, was a presentation of Student Management System. Ms. Zhu mainly introduced the training program for college students, including course study, course assessment results, academic management, and credit recognition. In terms of course study, she recommended us to participate in education and teaching activities on time and attach importance to our usual performance so as to improve our comprehensive performance. Finally, Ms. Zhu recommended many official websites to facilitate students' access to information, and wished the freshmen a successful completion of their studies.
The sixth lecture was delivered by Huang Hai from the Mental Health Education Center of the University, and he taught the students an interesting and profound lesson with his humorous language and real and vivid examples. Mr. Huang gave a detailed talk on "Psychological adjustment and coping of new students". He pointed out that students should first have a good attitude and experience college life patiently; secondly, students should learn to study, find interests, integrate, and enrich their after-school life; the core was to learn to know themselves correctly and actively communicate with others; they should also learn to coordinate and control their emotions and let them out reasonably. Finally, he called on everyone to pay attention to mental health education, and encouraged students who encountered setbacks and were in trouble to actively seek help from parents, friends and teachers.
Finally, on invitation of the School, Officer Wang Dong from Yujiashan Police Station of Wuhan Public Security Bureau gave a lecture on “Campus Safety Education”. Officer Wang read and explained the safety knowledge of college students against telecommunication network fraud, sounding the alarm for the freshmen who just entered the university. By citing five real cases, Officer Wang made the freshmen understand the diversity of online fraud and explained the "three difficulties" of telecommunication online fraud: difficult to combat, difficult to obtain evidence and difficult to convict. At the same time, he also warned everyone not to trust others easily but to improve their own awareness of fraud prevention.
At this point, the entrance education activity for 2022 undergraduate students of the School of Arts and Communication came to a successful end.
