Singing the Great Era with the Voice of CUG: Teachers and Students Participate in the Recording of “Chorus Pioneer” of CCTV

CUG News (Reported by Shan Tianyi, Photo by Liang Ruihua) From July 9 to July 12, our students and teachers were invited to participate in the recording of the program “Chorus Pioneers”of CCTV, which was the fourth time that CUG was invited to this program. 19 students from the Star Choir of the School of Arts and Communication, 16 teachers from the “Golden SpikeFaculty Choir and 7 teachers of Weeding Gongs and Drums” Art Troupe from Qu Yuan’s hometown participated in the program recording.

 

“Chorus Pioneer” is a singing program created by CCTV Music Channel for the public. The program highlights the concept of “Pioneer”, searches for pioneer choirs, creates pioneer chorus works and promotes the pioneer chorus performance forms. CUG performed in five songs, including “My Future Is Not a Dream”, “My Home is by the Yangtze River”, Dew Like a River, “Lonely Warrior” and “As You wish”. Wang Xiaoming, the on-site general director, expressed appreciation for the serious performance of the actors, “The team of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) is a collective that loves art and works hard.”

 

 

It was reported that this performance was the fourth time that CUG invited to participate in the program recording, which showed high affirmation of China Media Group (CMG) for the aesthetic education work of CUG. In order to prepare for this recording, under the full guidance of Yu Min and Yu Lei, the Star Choir, Golden SpikeFaculty Choir of CUG and “Weeding Gongs and Drums” Art Troupe from Qu Yuan’s hometown prepared nearly two months in advance, and jointly presented a music feast for the national audience, singing the great era with the voice of CUG and welcoming the victory of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the 70th anniversary of CUG with practical actions.

 

Some of the students and teachers who participated in the recording event also expressed their feelings. Ms. Yu Min said, “We are all proud to be a part of CUG, we make persistent efforts to present better chorus works, so that the teachers and students can feel the charm of chorus art.” Yu Lei believed that through this activity, the students have been greatly trained, the stage performance and singing level have been generally improved, and the overall strength of the choir has been further strengthened.

Zhang Hui, head of the Golden Spike Faculty Choir, participated in the performance. She said: “during the recording process in the past few days, everyone was full of passion, fully expressed their love for the Yangtze River and their vision for a better life, and everyone has integrated their emotions into the songs.”

Chu Xinyue, a freshman of the School of Arts and Communication who participated in the program recording for the first time, was excited and excited when she walked into the studio hall. “During the recording of the program, the director would constantly adjust according to our position, which made our recording very smooth.” Liu Jieli, a college student, said, “This is my first time to the CCTV stage, and I feel honored to perform on such a stage.” Pu Jinshan, a student of CUG participated in the program recording for the third time. “This year's recording is different from the previous ones. We can finally stand on the CCTV stage with an independent program.” Gao Tianshi, a graduate student, believed that the recording of the program “Chorus Pioneer” enabled him to have a deeper understanding of stage singing and he was grateful for the valuable learning opportunity given by CUG.
