Notice of “Inheriting Campus Genes and Telling the Story of China University of Geosciences” Cultural and Creative Works Design Competition

Each school has its own campus character, and culture is the centralized embodiment of campus character, the soul of the school, and an important part of campus content. This design competition, based on the cultural precipitation and colorful campus life with the characteristics of the University, will create a “gift” with the cultural characteristics of the University on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the University. At the same time, it will further publicize and promote the history and culture of our university and the cultural and creative industry, enhance the charm of campus culture, and transform the concept of campus cultural and creative works from an ordinary campus cultural industry accessory to the concept of driving campus culture with cultural and creative works to enter students’ lives.

III. Activity Mode

1. Choose any design direction in team or individual form (design of cultural and creative works for the celebration of the University, design of animation and cartoon images of the School of Arts and Communication, a complete set of WeChat expressions of the School of Arts and Communication) and submit the application form (Annex I) and works (relevant exhibition boards or PPT design texts of works) to the email 1983478977@qq.com.

2. The scoring is in the form of “online voting” plus “professional teacher scoring”; the voting score accounts for 30% and the scoring by the judges accounts for 70%.

IV. Requirements

1. Create a design scheme related to the theme of the competition in a team or individually (hand-drawn, panel drawing, rendering and other forms of expression are allowed), with no more than 5 team members and no more than 2 instructors, and you can choose any of the following themes.

(1) Theme 1: Design of cultural and creative works for the university celebration of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan)

(2) Theme 2: Design of animation and cartoon images of the School of Arts and Communication

(3) Theme 3: WeChat expressions of the School of Arts and Communication (a complete set)

2. The forms of works include but are not limited to:

(1) Work content: The basic view of the design work (IP three views), action diagram, derivative design diagram, multi-angle effect diagram, etc., showing the design concept and the whole picture of the work in detail as much as possible; and a design description of not less than 150 words, including the design concept, function and other aspects.

(2) Expression form: hand drawing, board drawing, effect drawing production and other design expression forms (express the design concept clearly).

3. Submission requirements:

(1) Submission of electronic works: submit 1-2 design exhibition boards (JPEG format); or ppt design texts, effects, etc. (exported in pdf format).

Note: For works entering the finals, you need to submit physical objects or models (finished electronic version for Theme 3 WeChat emoji). 

(2) Each piece of design work should be marked with detailed design description and work introduction in the application form and submitted works, in order to review whether the entry meets the requirements, including but not limited to work title, design description, production process, etc.

4. The content is aesthetically interesting and valuable, healthy and culturally rich. It can fit the spirit and campus culture of the university and highlight the 70th anniversary of the university, with novel idea and concept, unique and innovative. Everyone should insist on the originality, do not plagiarize others’ works.

V. Evaluation Rules

The three themes of the competition are not grouped and are judged in a comprehensive manner, and the scoring rules are all based on uniform criteria.

1. Professional evaluation team:

We will invite the leaders of the School of Arts and Communication, several teachers of design, and several master and doctoral students with important scientific research or competition results to form a professional evaluation team. 100 points will be awarded according to the four aspects of theme conformity, innovation, integrity and technical production difficulty, and the average score will be taken after removing one highest and one lowest score. This score accounts for 70% of the total score.

2. Online voting:

After the contestants send their works to the mailbox, the backstage staff will sort them out and send to the official account for voting. The voting score is subject to the specific number of votes, which accounts for 30% of the total score.

VI. Awards

One first prize: RMB 1,000Yuan

Two second prizes: RMB 500Yuan

Three third prizes: RMB 300Yuan

Five creative prizes: commemorative prizes

The first, second and third prize winners are awarded the corresponding certificates.
