(Reported by Fu Binying, Photo by Cui Hanyun) On July 4, 2022, the program of design science of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) started a ten-day summer study tour. The tour was led by President Yang Zhe and led by Ms. Chi Yi, Mr. Zhou Ziqin, Mr. Zheng Libo, Ms. Zhang Ziying, Ms. Xu Li, Mr. Zhang Fan, Mr. Gong Bin, Mr. Zhou Bin, and Ms. Li Meng, travelling to Yichang and Shennongjia.
It was cool in Yichang after the early morning rain. At around 9:00 am, the students and teachers gathered in the dining room, where Mr. Zheng Libo told us the precautions and schedule, and invited two principals of the Three Gorges Baima Camp Art Zone to lead us on a tour of 809 Vocation Town.
Led by the person in charge, the students walked together to experience the natural scenery on the road, received red education in 809 Vocation Town, and visited the third-line factory renovation project. Through the tunnel of time, there were simple and unpretentious clear water red brick walls, and dignified and thick gray tiles. Here preserves the memories of a generation of military workers, and is a historical witness of a special period of the Republic.
In the afternoon, under the leadership of different teachers, each class carried out independent sketching around the art zone. The rising temperature made the humid weather hot and muggy, and the students, in the spirit of “hardworking and plain-living, being realistic and pragmatic”, felt and depicted the magic work of nature in Yichang.
The first day of practice study tour ended perfectly. May the students benefit a lot from the activity and experience an unforgettable sketching life.
