Dedicating True Love for 70th Anniversary of CUG and Cultivating Talents with Spring Flowers and Autumn Fruits

(Reported by Zhao Shunan, Zeng Gehui; Photographer: Liu Dingyao) At 17:00 pm on July 1, at the important moment of the 101st anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the School of Arts and Communication held a painting donation ceremony for Mr. Ouyang Debiao in conference room 1209 of the building of the School. Lai Xulong, Vice President of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), Chu Zuwang, Standing Committee Member of the Party Committee, Head of Propaganda Department and Director of the University Celebration Office, Yuan Jiang, Deputy Director of Alumni and Social Cooperation Division, members of the leadership team and representatives of teachers and students of the School of Arts and Communication attended the donation ceremony. The meeting was hosted by Guo Xiurong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Arts and Communication.

At the donation ceremony, Professor Gui Yuhui delivered a speech on behalf of the School, highly praising Mr. Ouyang Debiao's achievements in art creation and expressing his gratitude for donating the painting to the School. Then, Chu Zuwang, Standing Committee Member of the Party Committee, Head of Propaganda Department and Director of the University Celebration Office, accepted the donation on behalf of the University, and Vice President Lai Xulong presented the donation certificate. Mr. Ouyang said that the transformation from fish to dragon in the painting implied that students could become better through learning in school, expressing his ardent expectation for students.

 

 

Yuan Jiang, Deputy Director of Alumni and Social Cooperation Division, said that the Alumni Association, as an important platform to improve the funding system, is a bridge between the University and the society, and hoped that it could provide more resources and support for the development of the School on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of CUG. Vice President Yang Zhe, recalled the years when he worked with Mr. Ouyang, and learned from him the sincerity of art and the thirst for knowledge.

Finally, Vice President Lai Xulong made a concluding speech, pointing out that the donation ceremony was gift to the upcoming 70th anniversary of CUG, and that the donation would be used as an opportunity to shoulder the cultural mission and responsibility of inheriting Mr. Ouyang's spirit and skills, strengthening aesthetic education and cultivating the soul, so that the precious artworks could play a more active role in talent training and cultural inheritance. Secretary Guo also said that the School would continue to move towards the goal of cultivating comprehensive and excellent art talents, deeply integrate aesthetic education with the professional development and discipline construction of the School, and work together to create a distinctive cultural atmosphere rich in connotation.
