July 4, 2022

On June 30, 2022, the Department of Music began a six-day summer practice tour. Ms. Yang Qing, deputy director of the Department of Music, and Ms. Yu Lei led 50 students in Grade 2020 from the Department of Music to carry out summer practice activities in Lichuan, Enshi and Badong in Hubei Province.

At 5:45 in the morning of June 30, with the first ray of sunshine, we gathered at the entrance of the University and took the bus to Hankou Railway Station. The morning was spent in the wonderful scenery and relaxed and joyful atmosphere along the way. After a short break, we arrived at Lichuan, the first destination of our trip.

The two teachers first led the students to Tenglong Cave Scenic Area and tasted the local special Tujia pit hanging pot. After experiencing the Tujia folk style and local delicious features in the restaurant, the students were re-energized for the first stop of the trip in Lichuan - Tenglong Cave Scenic Area.

Tenglong Cave is a National Nature Park National AAAAA Scenic Area, the largest cave ever discovered in China and one of the world's super caves, with the cave system landscape characterized by majesty, danger, strange, quiet and beautiful. The waterfall at the entrance roars like thunder and is majestic. The cave has a variety of landscapes, as well as the walled corridor left by the explorers of the scientific research team in the last century.

In addition, there is a large laser show as well as traditional Tujia singing and dancing performances in Tenglong Cave. In the natural cave formed over millions of years, the changing laser show uses high technology to make the perfect fusion of reality and imaginary, emotion and scenery to tell an enchanting Tujia legend and present a beautiful audiovisual experience.

The song and dance performance "Yishui Lichuan" portrays the essence of the Tujia ethnic culture living and flourishing around the Tenglong Cave scenic area, spanning thousands of years from ancient times to the present in just fifty minutes. The theme of this song and dance drama consists of three major chapters: the first part "White Tiger", the second part "Customs of Ba Ppeople" and the third part "Ancient Dragon Boat Tune". It tells the tourists about the arduous journey of the Tujia ancestor Lin Jun in opening up the territory, as well as his sad love story with the salt water goddess, and displays the representative folk arts of Tujia and Miao Nationalities, such as Blind Date of Tujia Girls, waving dance, crying marriage, Xi Lan Ka Pu, flesh-patting dance, Shang Dao Shan, Babao Tongling dance, Mao Gu Si, Cao Ba Long, Liu Kou Cha, Dragon Boat Tune. The performance shows the rich and ancient customs of Tujia nationality.

At the end of the song and dance show, the most exciting part finally came. In a burst of cheers, Zheng Peijun from Class 163201 was honored to grab the hydrangea thrown by the Tujia girl and was invited to the stage to experience the Tujia people's wedding ceremony. Our trip to Tenglong Cave also ended with laughter.

Then, the teachers led the students to the "Tujia Flavor" restaurant. With Tujia's folk music, everyone had dinner in a lot of laughter. After a long day of travel, we arrived at the hotel early. Under the effective organization of several class cadres, we quickly settled down.

That’s all for today’s trip. Good night, see you tomorrow!
