(Reported by Cai Yuchai, Photo by Zhang Xuan) At 15:00 on June 23, the first meeting on the selection of subjects for teaching practice of Grade 2020 in radio and television was held in Room 1312 of the Building of the School of Arts and Communication. The meeting focused on the selection of topics of each team, preliminary preparation, feasibility of the plan and practice safety in the 2022 summer teaching. The meeting was a combination of online and offline. The practice instructors Wang Dayuan (online), Yu Jijun, Wu Hao and Liu Dingyao attended the meeting to listen to their subjects selected and provided guidance.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Yu Jijun explained the main contents of the subject selection report, and each group had no more than 15 minutes. Then, the students reported and shared one by one by groups. All members of each group came up to the stage to talk about their plans and preparations for their subjects. Yu Mengdie, the reporter of the first group, introduced the program title, program type, selection background, arrangement before, during and after the shooting, feasibility of the program, and expected difficulties, etc.

During the meeting, the teachers communicated with the group members and asked for the details of the subject. Mr. Wu Hao asked about the picture shooting of “Jinling Beauty” and the local knowledge of Nanjing, and Mr. Yu Jijun further understood the preparation of the subject chosen by the group members and suggested the students to continue reading the literature to explore its practical significance. Then, Yu Mengdie answered the teacher's questions and described the reasons for the site selection, the way the story was linked, and the human history behind the subject. Yu Mengdie said that “Jinling Beauty” would show the changes of women's living status and thoughts through dynastic changes, and was expected to present different stories marked by costumes and makeup, etc. At the meeting, teachers and students instantly interacted with each other and made joint efforts to optimize the pre-selected subject, forming a good atmosphere for two-way communication.

Mr. Liu Dingyao urged the students to contact the interviewees well beforehand, pay attention to the time schedule, make sure they have enough time, and buy personal accident insurance before setting off. Mr. Yu Jijun affirmed their plan and reminded the students to pay attention to the epidemic prevention policy and the practice with safety as the first priority.

During the subject selection meeting, teachers and students had a good atmosphere of communication. In a serious and responsible attitude, teachers helped students think about the feasibility of the proposal, affirming and questioning, pointing out the lack of preparation and putting forward suggestions for improvement.
During the exchange, Mr. Liu Dingyao affirmed the adaptability of "Building a Beautiful Countryside" to the times and reminded the students to pay attention to the changes of typical characters or villages to visualize the macro theme after understanding the feasibility of the program, and put forward that if there would be a need for photographic equipment during the practice, they can apply to the School for borrowing. Mr. Yu Jijun inspired the students to think about how to understand the intangible cultural heritage, and suggested that a good film on intangible cultural heritage should not only focus on the skills themselves, but also put the perspective back to the life itself, reflect the ideology in the work, and make a film that can convince themselves, in order to make the work worthwhile.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Yu Jijun summarized today's subjects and made arrangements for the script debriefing meeting next Thursday (June 30), and told the students to continue to optimize the program, develop the script in a more detailed and specific way, follow their wishes for the subject selection, create the script in an audio-visual way of thinking, and face the shooting object with a level-headed and respectful attitude.
So far, the first meeting on the selection of subjects for teaching practice of Grade 2020 in radio and television was successfully concluded, and all 9 practice groups have reported. Through this meeting, the students had a better grasp of the refinement direction of the subject, and learned from the exchange that they should consider the details of video shooting more comprehensively.
